Mumsnet Christmas Appeal: the thank you thread II

RowanMumsnet · 20/12/2012 20:13

Hello

Follow-on thread from this one.

To quote SecretSantaSandyMumsnet:

So the spreadsheets have been completed, the matches have gone out, all is done. Gin

We're all waiting with bated breath. If you're a recipient and you'd like to pop back on here when your gift arrives to thank your donor then do remember to look out for your MN code which will have been included in the address on the packaging and include it in your post. The person who sent the gift will then be able to know it's you.

If anyone has any questions about anything to do with the Mumsnet Christmas Appeal then do please email [email protected].

Ho Ho Ho!

Rowan, thank you for starting another thread as I'm still waiting to be reassured my parcel posted on 1st December has arrived.

I'm really worried now and hope my recipient isn't thinking I haven't bothered Sad

Not looking for thanks, and I appreciate there are reasons for not 'chasing up' but is there any way you can discreetly find out if gifts have been received?

TIA.

This is recipient MN117 here. Thank you so much for the home made Scottish tablet. It's so scrummy. The kindness of MNers once again amazes me. The fact that someone has cooked for me, bundled it up, and posted it off to me is so humbling. All I have to say is many thanks.

I was not expecting a second package but another one arrived yesterday!
I am not sure if I am supposed to say who my Secret Santa is but I do "know" her. We are already MN buddies and sadly have the worst thing in common. We have both lost our precious children.
I honestly don't think she could have put more thought or love into that parcel if she had known me all her life.
The most beautiful shawl/wrap that actually goes perfectly with one of my dresses.
Sciency gifts for my older boys that they love and games for my younger two boys that went down very well!
A beautiful Christmas tree ornament for my girl, which I had been looking up online but never bought, one which represents my girl perfectly.
And a voucher for a restaurant which is a ten minute walk from my house and does the best pan fried chilli prawns ever, and dh and I can both drink wine and walk home! This in spite of the fact that she lives in another country.
If Carlsberg made Secret Santas, they'd make them like K!

I know my recipient doesn't know her number, but I posted MN106 today to a MNer in Hampshire. I want her to be able to see this message once she receives it.

So sorry for leaving it so late! When I signed up to donate, I had more money than I do now and being complacent and leaving things til the last minute like I usually do, I didn't realise I would have a lot less money now Xmas Blush - car trouble = costly! So I'm sorry it's not much and I'm sorry I couldn't buy for your boys, only for you. Nevertheless I hope my gifts give you a smile.

I have just read through the first thank you thread and saw your number come up there too, so I think you may have 2 secret santas Xmas Grin

I really hope your gift arrives in time and that you and your boys have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic 2013 x

Oh and I forgot to say - MN106 - the smaller parcel is something handmade by me, with love, and I hope it will remind you of the nest of vipers every time you look at it Xmas Wink

MN041
So the saga of your present continues (I posted earlier about a computer glitch Xmas Confused) Anyhoo it appears you will get 1.5 gifts this year! They had doubled the order but one thing was out of stock - if that makes sense, it probably will once two parcels arrive. So you will have a double of one gift - please don't worry - re-gift, keep both for yourself, whatever works. All I know is just as life is too short to stuff a mushroom, its too short to worry about this Xmas Grin
Have a fabulous Christmas!

How about RowanBerries for a Christmas name - would that be suitably festive ? Xmas Smile

A message to Mumsnetter 219 in Glasgow - I got a wee parcel off to you yesterday and hope it may get to you in time for Christmas.

I hope it does but if not perhaps you can see it as a New Year/ winter solstice present to cheer you through the dark days of winter and welcome in the longer, warmer, brighter days of summer Xmas Smile

Wishing everyone a happy winter solstice today
(and hoping the Mayans got it wrong !)
