is it too early to decorate the christmas cake?

just that really, is it too early to marzipan and ice the cake? it will be stored in an airtight container, just dont want it to be past its best by christmas day. i last fed it a week ago, if that makes any difference. trying to get ahead as much as possible - i would actually like to spend xmas eve with the children this year and not rush about like a mad thing !

Let the marzipan dry out for a day or two first.
