15 yo niece. Where the flip do you buy clothes for 15 yr olds?!

My DC younger so this is alien to me - but where do you all buy nice trendy clothes for 15/16 yr old girls? I don't want to give her a token as she will be getting loads of tokens, not much fun to open. But Next, Tesco, all the places I;ve looked for clothes only go up to age 14. Adult clothes too big. Tell me where to look! I tried John Lewis online, thinking they do everything, but not much there.

Someone will no doubt suggest Hollister but I couldn't recommend it because I just don't understand it Anyway you have to be a multi millionaire to afford a sock in there.

My daughter is 13 and loves new look, top shop, river island, h&m. People have asked me this yr where to buy her clothes for Christmas and when I've asked her she's said just vouchers or money.
She is so fussy & always takes anything back that people spend time picking for her little madam Good Luck

I just did some online shopping with my 15 year old dd today and the sites of choice were

I suggested H&M but in my fashionista's opinion it's not been great this season, New Look is good for shoes, but the teen stuff is getting pretty childish looking on a 15 year old whilst the women's section seems too old, in a "workwear" sense. Dorothy Perkins is a bit the same to be honest, aimed more at the 20s market

If it's big-ish, there's Superdry, Jack Wills and Abercrombie and Fitch (all small sizing and teenagers love them!)

I have a 16 yo niece and was told a couple of years ago that it would be best if I bought her vouchers from now on. And I thought I had good taste!

Teenagers of that age can vary so wildly from one 'tribe' to another I think it's pretty much impossible to choose to their taste unless you know them well.

My niece is 15 and I have just bought her a xmas outfit, some from Urban Outfitters (her favourite shop) and some from good old topshop.

Depending on the size of the 15yr old she'll probably fit into adult clothes anyway (aren't most girls at their adult size/height by then?), so it's just a matter of finding a store that suits her style. DD, who's 9 but wears 11/12yr clothes can fit into adult size 6 tops and jackets, she has her eyes on a leather jacket from H&M.

Unless you are really very up to date with teenage fashion, and the taste of your teenage niece in particular, I really do think you would be better off getting her a voucher rather than picking something for her.

Clothes can be so much part of their individual identity at that age, you are 99% guaranteed to get it wrong. I don't even choose clothes for my own 14yo, and I know every item of clothing in his wardrobe.

If you really, really want to be able to wrap something up gor her, go for somewhrre like TopShop which has lots of branches and a wide range, and enclose a gift receipt because it will almost certainly be used.

Top shop is the safest bet, but to be honest I wouldn't even try to buy an outfit for my own 15 year old, and I don't think her aunt could do it. Top shop voucher would probably be very much appreciated!

OP....what's the 15 year old like? You can get basic jeans/tops/etc from Topshop and they'll cost you way too much for what they are, but they look good....

Thanks ladies, great range of suggestions. I thought I'd enjoy choosing clothes for teenage girl (only have DS x2) - how wrong could I be! I think it's too risky - I've no idea what Topshop size will fit her, so i think it'll be a voucher. Very boring for her - she's getting vouchers from virtually everyone. I'll choose some accessories or something, surely I can manage that! Thanks for your help.

I agree with all posters recommending vouchers - she won't find them boring, she'll love spending them! Definitely include receipts with anything you buy - even if you have impeccable taste, you can bet it's unlikely to be what your teenage niece will want!

I have a 15 year old dd (and a 17 yr old). I can guarantee when they open the voucher they will be mentally running through the complete contents of whatever store it is and deciding what they'll buy. They won't find it boring!

My 15 yr old politely told me not to buy any clothes this christmas unless she chose them because she's 'very very picky' (her words)

My 15 year old niece has also asked for money or vouchers for Christmas so that is what she is getting from me. I have jazzed up the money by buying some christmassy money wallets on Amazon to put the money in and also split it into two presents with half of the money attached to a large chocolate lolly and the other half attached to a small box of toiletries so she has two parcels from me.
