There are quite a few different ones if if you do a google search for walking penguin toy, I would link but am on my phone. Am I right in thinking there is a happy feet 2 film which has come out recently?Maybe he has seen a toy from that?
I did a silent cheer when someone asked DS 3yo what he wanted from Father Christmas and he said a rubber duck grin

WhispersOfWickedness Wed 12-Dec-12 22:39:05

Hehe, x posts with everyone grin

There's a lovely kids book about a child who asked Santa for a real penguin. here Osbert

DS1 asked for a snow leopard...

Luckily I was able to explain to a slightly wild-eyed and bemused dh that ds1 had seen the WWF adoption appeal advert.

He's got his snow leopard coming, bless - looking forward to seeing him unwrap that one smile

How about adopting one in Surrey..any bird including penguin. you get a plaque aand you can visit and see your penguin.

BeaWheesht Thu 13-Dec-12 08:38:50

If he hadn't said a walking one i woul have presumed he meant penguin from batman

Marne Thu 13-Dec-12 09:38:23

I think its the penguin from happy feet too, we have him and his feet move (if you put him on a table or wood floor he does move around a little whilst shuffling his feet. Both my girls love him smile.

Just dig a swimming-pool in your back garden and get a real one, you big meanie.

Last year my son wanted, variously: a magic rabbit that can do tricks and has his own patch of grass with a fence around it; a pair of magic shoes that when you put them on mean you can do every exercise in the world including jumping over houses; a TARDIS (but a real one, ie that can travel through time and space). This year he asked for the sodding Titanic.

I know that the 'Santa' phase is marvellous and magical and makes Xmas exciting but boy will I be pleased when I stop getting requests for impossible presents.

Are you in the South East (England)?
What about a visit to Chessington or the London Aquarium? They have live penguins. You can buy a plush toy as part of an adopt a penguin package.

YoHoHoAndABottleOfSherry Thu 13-Dec-12 09:51:39

How about one of those toys where the penguins climb up stairs and then down a wiggly slide?

I would have killed for one of those as a child grin

Wallison Thu 13-Dec-12 09:52:18

I was just going to suggest that! They do them in Hawkin's Bazaar.

In pound stretcher too for under a fiver ;)

Wallison Thu 13-Dec-12 10:12:14

Ooh, really?

MortaIWombat Thu 13-Dec-12 10:22:39

Are you in London?
If so, anyone over 3 years old and 3 feet tall can meet the penguins for 20 minutes in a group of maximum 6 people, and you could write him a letter from Father Christmas explaining that there aren't any spare penguins that are looking for a new owner right now, but the ones in the zoo really wanted to say hello and show him their home.

Jenny70 Thu 13-Dec-12 12:11:20

Only one left on this linkie, but I have seen them in various shops IRL:

Or a wind up penguin torch? (have seen these at various outdoor type shops IRL)

ProtegeMoi Thu 13-Dec-12 12:29:53

I've seen Penguin pillow pet type things on my local town centre but can't remember what shop, they were cool and pretty cheap as well.

Would something like that work?

Or there's loads of nice penguin books about, we have a lovely one called 'And Tango Makes Three'.
