Present for friends in Australia - help!

I am stuck for ideas of what to send my friends (married couple, no kids) in Australia. Previously I've ordered hampers from an Australian website, delivered direct to them - wine, chocolates, etc. However, I've done that for a few years now and want to come up with something new. Any suggestions?

Sorry I have no ideas. I'm just lurking as I need to buy a January birthday present for a single female 32 yr old who has just moved to Sydney. Smile

Are you sure they want something new? They might really enjoy getting the hampers. It sounds like a really good present as the delivery aspect is sorted.

If posting anything from the uk, the last posting date is probably already upon us, but these teatowels post easily.

The last posting date from the UK has been and gone so it has to be ordered from Australia. I'm sure they'd be happy to receive another hamper but I just feel a bit unimaginative and 'samey'. Something like an Amazon gift voucher would be ideal but I don't think there's an Australian Amazon website and I don't want to send them a voucher for the UK one as they'd spend more on postage than the gift itself.

RemindMe I've used the Gifts Australia website which has been pretty good.

Less specifically, I've used www.mightyape.com.au with success in the past.

New picnic hamper, beach chairs, travel rug the type that fold into a bag. New beach towels? Over there you do tend to live outside 9 months of the year.

If you want house type things there is a place called Peters of Kensington we have used before to order things for people. It is Sydney based.

Make sure you check the exchange rate before you order. I ordered for our friends kids at the weekend and was shocked how much the rates have changed in a year.

I've brought a picnic rucksack with blanket and wine glasses (of course) from eBay Australia. I managed to source somewhere close to where relatives lived and they ended uo gift wrapping and personally delivering it too.

I've also brought vouchers for a local sports cloths shop and book shop.b that way there is no or little delivery charge because it's in their city.

M&S were doing free delivery to Aus, not sure if its still expired. They won't mind if it's late I'm sure- especially if it is nice clothes- the clothes are shockingly expensive in Aus!

We use book depository as it delivers without international shipping rates and then also send over a small parcel of. British goods (Dorset fudge, sweets they like etc)

I'm getting cinema tickets for my brother in Aus. Apparently both Reading Cinemas and Event cinemas are pretty widespread :)

I've bought for friends in Australia from amazon.com?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21. Bear in mind that they take a while to deliver. I think I bought this tiem last year and the gifts didn't arrive in time for Christmas.

I now buy things in the UK and post them. I buy for their DCs now, and I buy London/UK related things eg Paddington Bear books (8 for £10 in alittle cardboard suitcase in M&S at the moment), a London jigsaw puzzle (again M&S), Olympics stuff etc.
