Christmas

The stress has started.

MIL is doing her Christmas shopping today.

DH gave her the DC's Christmas lists over the phone. DS2 wants Skylanders figures.

When I found out DH had spoken to MIL, I pointed out that she might buy the figures he already has.

So I gave DH the carefully pre-prepared skylander list, and he phoned MIL back.

But this is the list of the Skylanders that DS2 already has, not what he wants. I've only just realised this. I will have to break this news to DM when she comes round this afternoon. She will not take it well.

Such a little thing, but so ridiculously stressful. I wan't to go and live on a beach with no TV/computer games etc.

In a way, I'm quite glad that all my relatives hate Xmas shopping, as it means they just give us money to get whatever we want to!

I feel your pain. FIL bought dd something we already had for her bday. Luckily he took it well and got something else but it doesn't make the conversation any easier!

People want to know what she would like for xmas - clothes or books I say. She already has more toys than any 1 year old needs. She probably has enough for her nursery class...everyone will probably ignore me and buy toys. I'm not ungrateful and will gracefully accept them & DD will play with them (while DH & I move our worldly possessions upstairs!).

If you're MIL makes a big deal of it that's her problem. You've tried your best and presents are not supposed to be perfect, they're a gesture for those you care about.
