Can anyone recommend me a nice food steamer for my mum pls? Btw £35 - £50 approx.

Depends on whether you want an electric one, or one that you use on top of a cooker (like a saucepan). Smile

Would prefer an electric one. So many different brands to choose from. Never bought one before. Need one mainly for herself so not too big. Would prefer one where if poss. Can use one or more baskets and not forced to use all three baskets and also with an automatic timer/ auto switch off if no water inside steamer.

Problem with the electric ones, is that gunk from the water seems to build up in the water tank really quickly, so they become less efficient. I had a morphy richards one and I ended up getting a normal saucepan type one after a few months as it was a nightmare to get clean.

I don't want one that goes on the hob as she is quick forgetful. When she steams on it, she turns the fire quite high and the pan sometimes run out of water which I dread. Also, she leaves it steaming for quite a long time so prefer that she usesc electric. Much safer and cost effective.
