Gift experiences

I'm thinking of getting a gift experience for my dad and his partner. I quite like the look of afternoon tea in a swanky London hotel, but I'm not sure if it's more of a hassle than a gift as they'll have to pay for travel to get there and back. What would anyone think if they received a gift like this?
