Every time I go to the shops they are calling out to me. But there seem to be hundreds, which one would you reccomend?

None of them. They are just mere adverts, with very little that is of use. I bought the Good Housekeeping one, I wish I hadn't. I'll send it to you if you want it, as it will be turned into kindling between now and Christmas otherwise.

I was going to ask similar question - are they really ALL crap? If so, will save my money!

Really, the vast majority of the mags are advertising. It's such a waste of money. Sad I wouldn't bother. What are you looking for? Maybe mumsnet can help.

I bought GH, Woman&Home, Prima (I have Essentials on subscription) and TBH they are all very samey, non-descript , and I couldn't honestly remember one thing that has stood out.

I should've put GH back when I saw the cover star was Nigella (again0 Hmm

Depends what you are looking for. In general, I wouldn't go near them.

They are all the same; this is how to dress your home (you're more than capable), this is what presents to buy (oh, please!), this is how to cook your turkey (on, please. You've managed every year, why need nigella to tell you to soak it in shit now?).

It's called a 'hook', well worded info about the contents designed to make you buy the magazine. 'Delia does Christmas' will be one paragraph about how she decorates her table or something silly like this. Most of them are in plastic wrappers as well, so you have to buy them before you can see how crap they are. Have you been into your local library? Mine used to have them out on display so that people could read them. You can have my GH if you want it, I'd happily post it to you.

Look at pinterest and search Christmas instead... It's free!

Pick up the free magazines from Tesco, Asda etc. They probably have the same amount of adverts in them as well

Ideal Home do a Christmas special and I always enjoy it. Lots of lovely pictures and some great recipes/meal planning for Christmas day. Reading it gets me in a christmassy mood!
