Obviously I'm thrilled at the thought of all her Christmas/bday money going on my last chance for more Playmobil but not sure about either.

She has been banging on about the Princess Castle for years, the new one however looks masseeeeeeeve. Although this year would be her last chance how much play value would she get?

She has the ELC wooden dolls house which probably is a bit young(although Polly Pocket and SF like it)so I can see why she likes the idea of the GM and it would compliment the vast amounts of PM all 3 children have collected over the years.

Was kind of hoping to get a bare Victorian type one day that dd and I could do up together, with wall paper and such like(I always wanted a dollshouse but never had one) so wondering if the GM would be unnecessary(would be ££££ with furniture) however it's not for me .

Would literally be all her Xmas/bday money pooled.

What to do????

Ooooh am bumping for you as my DD (nearly 5) has also asked for the playmobil castle, or a dolls house, and I don't know which to get her and which she will play with more over the coming years and I can't decide if I would prefer to decorate a dolls house myself or build playmobil ...

Aw I had the playmobil Victorian townhouse when I was a kid, got it for Christmas when I was 6 or 7 and periodically built it and packed it away until I was about 11. I really loved it

< wanders off muttering about playmobil possibly being in the loft >

I have just this very minute been looking at the Playmobil Princess Castle and Pegasus in Costco it is £89.99 for DD1. We have decided she can have it but it will be a birthday/Christmas combo.

DD is 3.5 and has been going on for weeks about the Princess Castle. Do you think she's too young for it?

If your DD still plays with Playmobil, than I think it's a nice gift and the new version has good reviews on Amazon.

Winny - DD1 is only just 4 and loves her playmo, it only comes with the princess but grandparents etc. can buy a few more people if need be. DD2 is 2.4 and love playmo too.

My DD got the new princess castle for Christmas last year (I don't think it was even released in the UK then).

It is big is terms of floor space, but absolutely stunning with loads of play value. The only problem is it doesn't come with much furniture so you end up having to buy extra sets if you want to furnish it with palace stuff. DD has a pegasus set too, and I bought some extra figures, a dragon and some older palace furniture off ebay.

I would say it's definitely suitable for an 8 year old as there is loads of detail and lots of fiddly pieces.

I would say would be ok for a sensible 3.5 year old if you remove some of the tiny pieces until she's older. It's easily broken apart like all playmobil sets so you may end up spending a lot of time reassembling it.

winney, we have the boys knights castle and the girls princess castle, the princess castle is a nightmare with my little girl (nearly 3), she just dismantles it as it is made up of loads of tiny pieces, as opposed to the boys one which she plays with really well.

All I was doing was rebuilding it, but she doesnt do that to DS's - I am shortly to be reselling it on evilbay.
