I'm nearly finished shopping for Christmas, just 3 relatives still to buy for. Finished off the stuff for stocking this week, its starting to get exciting now!

My 2 DDs (3 and 2) are having a Innotab and a Vtech Kiddizoom camera as their main presents. DD1 has never seen an Innotab but I think she will love it, DD2 loves a friends vtech camera and takes pretty good photos (for a not even 2.5 year old) so I'm sure she will love that. Bought them months ago when there was a sale and I had some vouchers and put them away.

They are also getting Christmas eve pjs and in their stockings they are getting:
ear muffs
knickers
vests
slippers
necklace/bracelet set
gingerbread man
chocolate santa
satsuma

Jewellery making kit
Sticker pack
Squinkies - 2 packs and a squinkie salon
Sparkly mosaic set
Notepads and pens
Sparkly lip balm

Necklace and bangles
Build a Bear outfit

Most of this was bought on the clubcard exchange so I'm pretty pleased.

DD (2, nearly 3) is having a balance bike. Also a memory game, pop-up book, story CD, doll and a mini racer.

DS (newborn) is having the deluxe Duplo. I know this sounds mad but it's actually genius because he will let his big sister share it (she had the barn last year but you can't do much else with it), and obvs she will be v grateful to her little brother and let him share her stuff too we live in hope. He's having some sensory toys and some similar bits to DD too.

They'll also have Christmas PJs and DD has lots if little but useful gifts for her advent calendar (play doh cutters, paintbrushes, hair clips etc).

Sorry about the minute detail - I'm excited!

Olibeansmummy - is this the pirate ship you have for DS? If so, it's really big and you could absolutely get away with it as a main present if you wanted to.

For DS, who's 4 we've bought

Imaginext batcave and gotham city jail
Batman dressing up outfit
Post office set
Junior monopoly
Small magic set (£6 in M&S, which was great as all the ones I had been looking at were bigger and more expensive!)
Octonauts Gup X (an unexpected extra present - it was a good deal and I was feeling weak at the time Grin)
Various books/audio books

I've still to get some stocking bits and possibly some hand puppets.

Not much as yet...DS has his birthday on 20th December too but am saving. He is getting the Lego Batcave being bought jointly by me and exH. We are also going halves on a Playmobil Castle. So those are main presents: one for Birthday and one for Xmas. I am on a tight budget this year so am planning a fun stocking with cupcake kit, paints, satsumas, selection box, socks etc.

Ds1 - kindle fire, furby and scooter
Ds2 - 3ds, art and craft stuff and scooter
Ds3 - 3ds, scooter and playdoh
Ds4 - scooter, wooden farm and happyland castle
Dd1 - dolls pram, wooden kitchen and happyland.
They also get books, DVDs and games.
We don't buy things during the year and birthdays are kept smaller. Christmas is our special time. We have a very small family so they only get 2 other presents which is why we spoil them.

dededum big red flag for you though!! If you buy a laptop in the states, and bring it back here to the UK, make sure you look at warranty information! We bought our DD a laptop in the states and when it broke, we had to actually ship it to the states, even though they had a UK company, as the warranty only fixed in the states. Was a MAJOR hassle and expense, as we had to pay the shipping (wouldn't cover shipping from outside the US). Also there's the whole customs stuff about buying there and bringing back - you get asked a fair few questions, unless of course he's having them shipped.

But definitely do your research on the warranty!

DD will be 3.6 at Christmas.

She's getting
cape & crown
jigsaw puzzle
two Orchard toys board games
clothing for her two dolls
skirt
2 sets of necklace + bracelets
fruit + other treat

Christmas eve
pjs
book

The cape & crown are custom made and is the biggest splurge.

Thanks Triggles, DH works in computers and often travels to the US so shouldn't be an issue if anything goes wrong.

I am feeling a bit bad now, as some of these lists are long - DD is only getting a couple of bits - from us she is getting a play kitchen - but it is ££ at around £80-£90. Then we bought a pushchair for dollies in Sainsbugs for £2.50 (bargain!), a peppa pig puzzle, and I might make her some play food and an apron etc for her kitchen. She has loads of toys, doesn't need anything else - she will have a small stocking with £ shop stuff and fruit etc - but we will be away for Xmas so I am struggling with what we can take with us...see my other thread about Xmas in Shanghai...

She will get a Micro scooter from the IL and will ask my parents to get her small things, Sticklebricks etc as we need things to keep her entertained on the flight to China....apart from that it is clothes from the rest of the family as it helps us out for the rest of the year.

She is 2.5 though, and we have so many toys - I think this is fair - isn't it? We do get her things for no reason during the year so she's not like some poor urchin child with no presents...

MegBusset · 03/11/2012 22:59

Missmakesstuff those sound like lovely presents and plenty for a 2yo :)

The DSes are getting a reasonable amount of things but only because there is no 'big' present this year, they are all pretty small so it still doesn't add up to that much money:

Vtech Kidizoom camera (bought in Tesco clubcard exchange)
Science Museum robot-making kit (ditto)
Laser blaster guns
Small Lego kit
Hot Wheels car
Books/annuals
Small craft set
Selection boxes

Plus stockings (Squashi Moshi, mini talking Dalek, magic wand, stationery set, chocolate coins, balloons, foam aeroplanes, Top Trumps).

They are 3 and 5 so still of an age where quantity is more important than size/value Grin

DD turns 6 just a few days before Christmas, so it's always a big list. Having been following the bargonious Christmas bargains threads and am already more prepared than usual.

There will be a joint present between DD6 and DS3.5 of a Jake and Neverland Pirates boat and probably a Captain Hook boat, just to make sure there's not too much screaming about the one.

DD will be getting

  • a den kit of pillows, blankets and lights for the space under her cabin bed.
  • oil pastels
  • a personalised facecloth
  • something else, probably something crafty like Hama beads, possibly some digital secret diary thing that she's spotted in the Argos catalogue.

DS will be getting
  • a big Playdough set
  • oil pastels (to be used under careful supervision as I know what he's like)
  • a personalised facecloth

Both will then be getting stocking stuffers of socks, underwear, novelty soaps, etc etc.

I read once, get them something to read, something to wear, something they want and something they need. Books are usually covered by other family members' presents, but otherwise, I follow that idea.
