Christmas

What have you got your 7 year old daughters.

I desperately need some inspiration. My daughter has her birthday just before christmas so need lots of ideas. I also have to give ideas to 2 sets of grandparents, two lots of uncles and 2 great aunts.

All she has asked for so far is roller skates and playmobile pony farm. She is your standard 7 year old girl really in terms of tastes but just not at all materialistic so she tends not to have a huge long list.

After some ideas so if you could share what is on your daughters wish list that would be great.

DD was 7 just before last Christmas and she was given Roller blades and Playmobil!

Also a dressing up costume and the Wayside School books which have been read and reread.

Well, I have an 8-yo and 6-yo DD, who have Jan and Feb birthdays, so I feel your pain! On their wishlists are:

an electric blanket (8-yo - she's a fragile little flower [hgrin])
Harry Potter Cluedo
Harry Potter books
Secret Kingdom books
New Moshi Monsters DS game
Lego Friends
Crafty stuff (you know, those kits you can get)
Bike lock

My brother bought both girls magazine subscriptions for their birthdays, and they've been a great hit so he plans to renew their subscriptions and just send them some chocolate or suchlike with a card telling them they will still get their mags through the year. The one DD2 (the 6-yo) gets is this and it's really good.

Oh, and last year, my sister got all 3 girls big floor cushions for their Christmas and they've been brilliant, used all the time. And, another idea, if your DD likes doing jigsaws, it was at about this age that DD1 got some big puzzles like this - it's got bigger pieces than regular puzzles so still doable while being a challenge. And she also got one of these, which is a godsend to get the damn puzzle out the way!

Last year I got my 7-y-o a Furreal cat, but Cookie the dog (which her sister had) has been more of a hit. I also got her Badge-it (brilliant) and Bop it, which is good. Have been thinking about Junior PIctionary this year. Mine loves fact books, so an Usbourne encyclopedia of history was a huge hit last year. Also Barbie hair studio (a doll with a mini hairdressers) has been much played with.

This year she wants lots of electronic things, but isnt't getting them. I am thinking about a new bike, maybe roller skates, a onesie, a watch and children's cookbook. A cd player plus audio books and pop music have been big hits in the past.

What's this Secret Kingdom books thingy? Is it the new 'in' thing for girls?

I have a 6.5 year old goddaughter whom I hardly know (they've been living abroad for the last couple of years). I don't want to be the un-withit godmother who buys what they've all just gone off of. And it has to be small enough to take back home on the plane.

QuenHelle, they appear to me to be the successors to the Evil Rainbow Fairies - not my choice of reading material but if it keeps the DDs reading.... You can find them on Amazon, or my local tesco had the first four books as a set for £5 last week! [hwink]

My 7yo dd is asking Santa for the new moshi monsters ds game and the cats and dogs ds game.

Other things she's asked for include slyvanians, Lego friends and regular Lego, geomag, lots of other ds games, a trampoline, moshi monsters and barbies. Thankfully she understands she'll be getting very little from that list Grin although shes a Jan birthday so she won't have to wait long to ask again!

Well now, MrsDetermined, you have given me a fab idea for a present for DD1 - she's off on Brownie pack holiday next year, so a camp blanket would be great. Thanks!

Poledra, your welcome. My DD is going on a pack holiday in February. So thought that & a little torch would be a good idea. Smile

DD was 7 in September.

Hasn't asked for anything at all actually...

I have so far bought her some books (forget which Blush but did bookpeople order recently which I'm sure I included her in)
A Hello Kitty Annual
A pen

Actually she has said she'd like the first Malory Towers book (am sure it is around here somewhere) as although other ones are definitely here she wants to start at the beginning Grin

Poledra what is the magazine your DD2 gets like? DD would like a magazine that comes through the post and was wondering between that one and the next one up so to speak.
