a toy cat
a toy horse (called toffee)
a trampoline
a slide
a table
a pair of scissors
a cleaning spray
a real pet cat
an ipad
a sofa
a place where I can put all my toys
three wheeled roller skates
a toy rabbit
a pet rabbit
horse riding lessons (only if the horse doesn't throw me off)
a butterfly mask
hairspray

She keeps adding to it, God only knows what will be on it next

Why does she want a sofa?

I think she may well be disappointed on the pet front

DS1 has a massive list of which nearly all items re things we have said no to on principle rather than because of money (tv in bedroom, Call of duty games, Facebook etc - he is11). He's written the list super politely though with lots of pleases and pretty pleases on it. My heart sank though as most things he wants we're not willing to get him. Sad

DS2 on the other Jane (8yo) has written a long list but it has a 'top 5' then 'others'. The top 5 has simple stuff on it which would be easy and cheap to get for numbers 1-4, number 5 on the top list is "to have fun"! So easy to please Smile

I love the request for cleaning spray Grin that's something mine have never asked for.Sofa here

I understand the request for cleaning spray. She likes to clean Hmm - definitely not my genes showing up there - and likes to use a lot of product, so is usually not allowed unfettered access to cleaning products...

If she had her own, she could use a whole bottle to clean one cupboard door

She would love that sofa.

Not sure there is room for it in the house we are moving to next week though Sad

Pourqu can you compromise on one of the not allowed on principle requests.
11 is a difficult age, DCs have outgrown toys and want to be grown up. But they can't have the freedom you'd give a 14y.

An iPod perhaps to face time his friends?
I also hate FB

dd1 put a DS, Wii, Playstation, her own laptop, Ipad, Iphone, Ipod - every gizmo you could think of - on her list, year in year out, from about the age of six. She didn't actually get any one of these things until she was nine (the DS), but she survived! She'd been told right from the beginning that a wish list is just that, it's not the same as an order list/shopping list, and that FC would be assessing her behaviour before deciding which children deserved what presents.
Her joy when she did finally unwrap her DS was fantastic to see, and she treasured it and didn't lose it once for oh.... at least six months [hgrin].

That Toffee horse gives me the willies. Not as bad as Milky the Rabbit, but close. On the scissors front, does she have any siblings she might try and barber?

Toffee the horse is a fur real I think?

Pourquoimoi - that is a tough one, it is a hard age. Startail has a good suggestion though.

ISeeThreadPeople - that is so sweet

vampirestakeknickers - I can't believe how materialistic she is. She has taken to turning over to commercial chanels and pausing them in the advert breaks so that she can come and fetch me while I am cooking dinner, then show me what she wants.

SoggyMoggy and SchnitzelVonKrumm - I do NOT want to buy her that bloody horse. Especially since it is £££. I wouldn't mind if it was a 20 quid grandparent present, but not as her main present from us.

Cleaning spray! Grin

Report
Pourquoimoi · 28/10/2012 10:56

startail - yes that's a possibility. I think he would like an iPod touch but I always think they're a bit of a waste of money. He has a samsung galaxy which you can do most of the same stuff on.
have an iPhone and an iPad and did wonder about getting him an iPad 2 but I haven't looked at cost or spoken to DH yet. I'd like to get him something he'd be really chuffed with. His birthday is 23rd December too so that makes it trickier!!
Thanks for the suggestion Smile

I have the iPhone and iPad, not him!

Just seen the cheapest ipad2 is about £300 so may be not!!

DD wants her own IPad too. We have one already. There is obviously No Way. She has too much screen time as it is. She does not need more.

Back to the drawing board then Porquoi. Sorry I don't have any inspired instant fix suggestions :)

DD (also 6 ) wants jellybeans [hgrin]

Report
NormaStanleyFletcher · 28/10/2012 12:53

Yes - the cleaning spray was a surprise - though I do understand why she has asked for it.

She obviously has a deep resentment of me trying to minimise the amount of chemicals that she inhales Sad Wink
