What's yours?

Mine is Fairytale of New York, and favourite movie is Love Actually. I also love those cheesy made for tv Christmas movies blush

It's a wonderful life. Silent Night.

MonsterBookOfTysons Sun 21-Oct-12 11:53:18

Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, this one ,
Favourite song is also Fairytale of New York smile

COCKadoodledooo Sun 21-Oct-12 12:04:24

What you said grin

Only Fairytale has to be the proper Pogues/McColl version and not that travesty by Ronan Fecking Keating.

Fantasia on Christmas Carols by Vaughan Williams.

My Fair Lady. It seemed to be on telly every year when I was a kid and I got all those frilly frothy costumes mixed up with snowflakes in my mind.

Elf

I don't like any christmas songs - doesn't stop me playing them though

Taffeta Sun 21-Oct-12 12:15:04

Zat you Santa Claus - Louis Armstrong
Arthur Christmas AND Elf

Song: 'All I want for Christmas' - only Mariah Carey song I like. Always sing along no matter how many time I hear it.

Elf is also my favourite film.

Dean Martin's version of - I've got my love to keep you warm

Film choice is difficult - but we did watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation last week blush

I think movie choice I'm going to go with Home Alone....

Kelly281 Sun 21-Oct-12 16:44:58

Mariah's All I Want for Christmas & The Christmas Shoes.

I wouldn't advise watching the movie without some tissues handy!

DesperatelySeekingSedatives Sun 21-Oct-12 16:54:23

Song: Fairy Tale of New York

Movie: Home Alone 1 and 2.

onedev Sun 21-Oct-12 16:57:41

Very similar Peppermint - The Pogues Fairytale of New York & Love Actually & also It's a Wonderful Life grin

Watch both those movies every Christmas Eve eve & Christmas Eve itself without fail so can't choose between them!

COCKadoodledooo Sun 21-Oct-12 17:02:00

Have been thinking again and my song choice might have changed - Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews singing Baby It's Cold Outside, or anything at all off the Boney M Christmas album.

Christmas Vacation

And, tbh, any of the 70s/80s Christmas songs, although I love O Holy Night (think Home Alone, Kevin going into the church).

O holy night
Miracle on 34th street or Arthur Xmas/elf.

PeppermintLatte Sun 21-Oct-12 17:34:12

Aaahhh "it's a wonderful life" a close second to "Love actually"

Kelly the christmas shoes is brutal! i sobbed for hours after it! have you seen the sequel to it? it's even worse!

other christmas songs i like -

anything by cliff blush
bing & bowie - little drummer boy
mariah - christmas, baby please come home
slade & wizard

there's too many to list, i love them all.

CharlotteBronteSaurus Sun 21-Oct-12 17:35:30

The Muppets' Christmas Carol.

and Wham! - Last Christmas. I want to live in the video for it, with all the apres ski and chunky knits and big hair.

PeppermintLatte Sun 21-Oct-12 17:40:20

i forgot about wham! who doesn't want to live in that video? it's so fabulously 80's.

Shoshe Sun 21-Oct-12 17:51:33

I believe in Father Christmas = Greg Lake always loved it (Jona Lewie's Stop the Calvary is a close second tho.

Miracle on 34th Street definitely favorite film. The 1994 version with Richard Attenbough and Mara Wilson.

Loobylou222 Sun 21-Oct-12 17:52:54

Nobody wants to be alone at Christmas and elf or home alone!

Oh charlotte you sound like me, as a 15 year old I used to wish I was grown up and spending Christmas like the Wham video. I used to think it was so sophisticated....

My friend and I had identical brooches like the one in the video....blush

I now work about an hour away from the location of the "Wham" chalet, in Saas Fe, but no-one wants to go with me there... sad

BitOfACyclePath Sun 21-Oct-12 19:44:57

Wham - Last Christmas/Mariah Carey - All I want for christmas is you.

Nativity!/Polar Express

hugoagogo Sun 21-Oct-12 19:56:07

I believe in Father Christmas-Greg Lake

Muppet Christmas Carol genius film grin

The Santa Clause, It's a wonderful life, and Elf.

grumpyoldbookworm Sun 21-Oct-12 19:59:58
