Just thought I'd share something I came across. Might help those who go overboard from being quite so extravagant.

Can be switched around, or only use one!

Gift-Giving Scheme from Santa
Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh gifts.
Three gifts representing:
gold (the big gift they've been wishing for),
frankincense (something for the body), and
myrrh (something for the spirit).

Gift Giving Strategy from the parents
Something they want
Something they need
Something to wear
Something to read.

Am interested in hearing of any similar ideas. I like neat little things like this.

For stockings we do the following

Something to eat
Something they want
Something useful
Something silly
Something to read

For main presents we have wish lists. Anything can go on a wish list because its only something you wish for. I will look at the wish list and decide what they would like or use most within my budget. I might also use it to give family members ideas.

Usually my dcs only put on 3 or 4 wishes and ask for surprises.

Mine's too young for a wishlist at the moment.

I'll do the eat/silly from the elves. :)

Mine started the wish lists when they grew out of sending letters to Santa. Although they always worked the same way. They could ask Santa for anything they wanted .but understood that Santa had to bring presents to everybody, so he might not bring them everything but would always try to get something from their lists.
