ideas for 2yo dts xmas presents whos birthday is 10 days after

I feel for you! (ds1-11th Jan, dd-23rd Dec!)

A tend to buy mine an outdoor toy for Christmas because nobody else does and also there are so many other presents they dont' care if they can't play with it right away. The year my dd turned 2 I got them a sandpit as a joint present then it was like a whole new present when it came out of the loft in the summer and they spent the whole summer in there.

one is totally obsessed with cars so dm and mil have bought him loads of cars and garage while th other is not really intrested in much was thining of a bike or scooter but are they too young?

Could you afford a wooden playhouse? You could have Christmas decorations for Xmas pressie and then bunting and stuff to decorate for birthday ? Should last them for some years.

A play kitchen with all the gubbins (tea set, plastic food) for one event and a big wooden railway set for the other event.

i have been looking at play houses but i have no room to put it and only have a very small garden for a swing

My DS has just turned 2 and I bought him one of the wooden little tikes kitchens (2nd hand) and he absolutely loves it! He's in it all the time, got little pots and pans and even a patisserie chef set ( have to laugh). I also got him a little tikes house for £50 that goes outside but now the weather is turning....he's not in it as much.

He's also getting into dressing up, so maybe some outfits? And a real winner at the minute is his elc toy train with the little people in. so any of those little sets with people, houses, pirate ships etc.

Oh and work bench! You can get drills that spin....all the kit, even a chainsaw!! My DS sees daddy chopping wood so this was a must for Christmas.

Scooters are a great idea - even if they're not quite ready for them now they will be by spring. Also brio, aquadoodle, tomy colour sketch, old fashioned bricks, duplo, make a dressing up box, easel, orchard toys games like shopping list, bath toys, play doh and tools, bubble machine, leap frog magnetic toys for the fridge. 2 is such a great age where they're into pretty much everything!

ive got them a few dressing up outfits and imperial they have most of what you listed the easel is a grat idea maybe it will stop them drawing on my walls

No ideas just commiserations - dd1 is th 27th December, it's bloody hard isn't it! She's 13 this year so has loads of things she wants - but oh my the cost.

My twins have their birthday two weeks after Christmas so I feel your pain. Mine are nearly five now but we got them a great toy kitchen the year they were nearly 3. The mini micro scooters are fine for age 2 so I would definitely recommend them for either Christmas or birthday. Also balance bikes are good from 2ish. Even if they can't really use them for a couple of months. This year mine are getting "big" scooters.

Another thing mine might get for bday is Trunki suitcases. They are envious of their brother's one and wish they had them. Would have preferred to have got them when they were younger so could be good for yours.

I'd second a mini scooter, you can get one with 4 wheels that converts to 3, then 2. Also a kitchen & brio type train set are really popular on this house. What about a garage like the one in ELC?

Says its 3 plus but ds1 has it & ds 2 (2) loves playing with it (although you do need the smaller cars to go with it). There's also a wooden garage on there.

Jigsaws, orchard toys games, toy till. You could ask for donations for a day out somewhere or vouchers to buy summer toys later in the year.

its so hard my sisters birthday is xmas eve and my nephews is boxing day.

forkssake thats the garage my mum has bought i had a look at the micro scooter and think i'm going with that as some of them have seats so more suitable for their age

There is a cracking deal on the ELC rescue centre through mothercare, look on the "3rd bargainous christmas thread", its currently £56 after a voucher for 20% off and its big enough for 2 to play with.

Then you could get all figures, and vehicles etc for their birthday. Tescos have a fantastic swat set (also linked on same thread), currently £35.

Those 2 things alone would be over £200 normally.

It does say from age 3, but the reviewer says it would be suitable for a younger child. It seems quite a bargain! .

Have they got a brio train set? They could have the basic set for Christmas then add ons for birthday-it really is the best toy ever.
For outside 2 is a bit young for scooters-I'd go with balance bikes or a little tikes car.

mini micro scooter with a seat DD2 got one (without the seat) for her 2nd birthday, It's taken a little while but she is pretty good on it now. The seat makes it easier to use from younger and if you don't already have ride on toys then I would say worth the extra money otherwise just get the scooter. They won't use it straight away perhaps but by the time the better weather of spring andsummer comes they will definitely be middle agedold enough.
