Help! Presents for 3yo DS with Christmas Birthday!

Hi,

DS will be 3 on Christmas Day. Although we celebrate his birthday on a different day there are still a lot of gifts to think about and relatives are asking what to get him?

Any suggestions? I have been recommended Imaginext which I had never heard of before! It does look good. He is getting a wooden train set from nanna and has quite a few happyland sets, scooter and balance bike. He loves books and jigsaws but already has loads (fab charity shop finds!!)

Many thanks
Pie

Perhaps it'd be good to get something that can be added to - like the Imaginext stuff. That way people can buy presents, but you won't be overrun with stuff, iyswim. My DS is 3 and he still loves playing with his big Lego, and his trains. People can always buy add ons for the train set as well. Extra carriages and that sort of thing.

Brio has loads of extras.

Brio train stuff is a good one, if you are specific about it being Brio, because it is expensive enough that you won't get loads of it! Grin

Which of the Imaginext things are good?

He is Thomas mad so will keep an eye out for wooden Thomas trains!

My 3yo has some imaginext - it's great and really good quality. We have a flying dragon/dinosaur type thing and a helicopter. The Submarine is fab too - I gave that as a gift to someone else's DS.

Dd's bday is near Xmas. Try to get things for a bit older than they are as then they can have new things throughout the year.

Camera? DS got the kidizoom one for his 3rd birthday (he's almost 4) and still loves it. He also loved Elefun, and still does, and orchard toys games, like greedy gorilla and old macdonald lotto.

Like the look of that camera and the games, he likes his orchard jigsaws! We drip fed him presents this year so will prob do same again. Just spotted that rescue centre deal gutted I missed it!

Both my DC have birthdays around Christmas. If anyone asks we say for garden type toys or more summerey type presents. We put them on top of the wardrobe and the the first sunny day we get them all down Smile

Am in a very similar situation ds is 3 on the 24th, imaginext in brilliant and sturdy, and still loved and played with by my 6 year old. Playmobil has been more hit and miss as it has loads of little pieces that get lost and go up the vaccum. The best playmobil was a boat, and you could buy a little engine and acutally goes in the bath. Trains are also still popular even with the 6 year old. This is the boat we have here.
