Hi,

I'm a 1st time Mummy this year (soo excited). DS will be nearly 5 by Xmas. Have bought the Gund Pepermint Elf.

Are you planning to name your Elf in advance so can do Passport etc ? If so what have yuo called him or are you planning for him to arrive & DC to choose Xmas name ?

Are you planing for his adventures to go outside the house ?

We had an elf last year for the first time and we named him before he arrived so we could do his passport. He arrived on 1 december with an advent calendar and a letter introducing him. He got up to some great things and ds wants to ask Father Christmas if he can come back this year. His name is Figgy P Ooding Esquire.

I believe that if you'd bought The Elf on The Shelf as in the whole book and elf package then you name your Elf when he/she arrives, and adopt it as part of you family and that is when Father Christmas sends the magic that makes the Elf come to life at night. So you could do something like that.
You can fill in an adoption thing on the Elf on the Shelf website even if it's not an official one and then you get a certificate that you can print out. (I tried just to see)

We started our Elf on the Shelf tradition last year.
The girls loved it!

Here is the blog we made for him. Says how he arrived etc.

What fab ideas, I'm going to borrow a few of those for our elf.

Our Elf is called Ernie & he arrives 01/12. He comes alive at night to go and tell Santa what the DC have been up to. Ernie then hides somewhere else and the kids search for him in the morning. The DC go and tell Ernie all about their day and if they have been good or not!

Our elves will be arriving in a box to be sneaked into our new house when we move on 1st dec.
The elves are so far called pippin and merry but that's still to be decided properly. they are a boy and girl gund peppermint elves. They are super cute! smile

I think they'll come with a note from father Christmas explaining and a set of letter to spell their names out on their doors. So father Christmas can find them in their new house.

Anything else is very much a work in progress!

Thanksfor bumping up & for all ideas etc - loved the blog pigleychez. Lets keep on adding as we need lots of ideas. My DH thinks I'm nuts !! I think his comment was "who exactly are you doing this for !"

We bought the Gund peppermint elf last year. He was great. We named him before he arrived - he came on Dec 1st with a letter introducing him and advent calendar. This year he is bringing a Christmas box with new pj's, bubble bath, Xmas book etc as well as the advent calendars so they can be used throughout December.

We never bothered with a passport and kept his antics pretty much indoors. Lots of general mischief like hiding things and making a mess (usually involving DS's underpants which he thought was hilarious)

DH thought I was mad at first too but half way through the month decided that we needed to be more prepared next time and have a list for the month of tricks for him to get up too!
