AIBU to wonder what people do on Christmas day?

So far, me and my little brood are:

Church in the morning.
Open Christmas presents.
Crimbo dinner at the pub.
Errr... now what?

We don't have any family close by.

I don't want Christmas day to resemble the boring ones I remember from my childhood; Sitting in front of the TV with a glum feeling of anti-climax.

Suggestions anyone?

Could you play some board games like monopoly or have a laugh on the wii, with wii fit or wii dance?

We're going on holiday on the 23rd and coming back on the 30th.

We have no family nearby either.
We go to friends for drinks between 12 and 2 then home for a totally untraditional lunch as I am not slaving over a stove for hours.
This year, dh and ds are flying to Australia for 3 weeks at 8pm on Xmas day, so I shall be waving them off about 6pm then running round the house with dd going "yippee!"

Well most years I work Christmas Eve night so get home to watch the pressie opening, have a nap and then spend e rest of the day eating

This year I'm not working so we'll have a lay in, open pressies then start the eating a bit earlier I'll go for a little run because I've always fancied it on Christmas Day, I'm trying to persuade the dses a walk would be nice but they aren't keen!

We don't have family nearby and try to see it as a day to relax and indulge a bit. It'll be a big Christmas dinner this year but last year we just did cold meats and nibbly bits because I did Christmas night as well, that worked really well.

Well they're very small yet...if I were you, I'd head home for loads of telly and rubbish christmas snack food while they nap/play with new toys!

Lie in ( as now can) wake 4 kids up, 23 to 12..

Downstairs and make 5 mugs of tea. Light coal fire.

Open presents, bacon sandwiches all round.

Kitchen and peel vegs with dh while opening first of many bottles!!

Bath and dress.

Lovely walk in national beauty spot at end of our road, take bread to feed birds, squirrels or any animal we see. Drink champagne on our special bench. Me dh and which ever kid wants to come.

Home.. Parents round, Christmas family games( passed down from grandparents all invented by my great aunts and uncles in the 1920s)

Huge huge Christmas dinner.

Xfactor final ( oh dear) anything else good on tv.

Lots more wine and champagne.

Potter around, cook, shower, dress etc
Lunch (cooked by DH )
Go for a walk

Theoretically, a nice walk although we've never ever actually made it our of the house & end up napping & watching naff telly instead!

Kids off to bed. Break open the naice wine. Play silly games like charades & tell stories for the rest of the night.

Boring to some. Heavenly to me! We get all the family visits out of the way on Christmas Eve, so the actual Day is very chilled out.

So depending if DC are awake I may or may not do presents with them.

Work! (Nurse) I'm on 1pm-6pm this year so once the pressies are opened I'm off out. Tbh I can't stand Christmas so I'm not too fussed, it's the dc I feel for!

Not sure this Christmas as it's about when DS1 is due. Probably sleep as late as DSD will let us (if she's with us and not her mom), then open presents, make breakfast, before I was preggers we'd go for a Christmas ride with sleighbells and everything! If snow, we'll play in it, if not, we'll go for a walk provided I can waddle at all

Call family and talk to the kids.

Let dc 4 and 2 years open stockings.
Make pancakes, bacon and maple syrup for breakfast.
Open rest of presents.
Go church christmas service.
Cook dinner and play board games.
Go to mil's at about 4/5pm for the nights

Lol well one game is shops. Person on goes out of the room.
Others choose a shop( old fashioned so may be a butchers, ironmongers, green grocers etc) each person chooses an item the shop would sell and then person comes back in. They ask to hear us shout our item loudly, medium and quietly and then have to guess the shop.

Of course any voice distortion can be used.

I think my ancestors were a bit mad tbh but it's fun.

Then open presents, laze around for a few hours then start Christmas dinner and scoff it.

I can put on about 3lb in one day!

Do you have any pets? We usually spend at least an hour making special (animal friendly) Christmas dinner for our pets.

Always spend xmas in dubai at parents villa, for a muslim country they do xmas a millions times better than the brits!, amazing decorations in all the malls and hotels, christmas partys for the kids at all venues, chriatmas carols on xmas eve at hotels etc.
Xmas day we Get up early, all have champagne in pool (not the kids) and start getting ready to go out.

Loads of us go to 'brunch' which is a dubai institution, always go to the same place which is packed and is a 4 hour affair of flowing champers, every other drink u might want, lobster, steak, sushi, every roast, spanish, mexican , cheese rooms, chocolate rooms, trillions of desserts etc literally everything all cooked on live food stations.
There is entertainment and loads of stuff for the kids to do, (petting zoo, face painting, there own food, clowns, acrobats etc)

The literally everyone comes back to ours and we finally open presents which is why they usually last till new year and we all drink more, play loads of games like charrads, pictionary, play music, have more people drop by etc.

My most depressing christmasses where whilst living in sydney, as much as i love it i hate xmas in australia.

This year we have lots of family coming out for xmas and my friend and her little one arrive boxing day for new year so i cant wait.
