staples are doing them for £25, at the moment, everywhere else seems to be sold out, as the "new" type are coming out, we had to ask them to get one in,

great for audio books,

I don't think they are a bad idea if used sensibly,

we just bought one of DD slightly older as she has been borrowing her brothers's for years,

we got one of those speaker pillows, so I don't stress about headphone wires at night

a pink duvet cover with dinosaurs on. she is bloody awkward. dd1 (7) wants a laptop (no chance)

I agree - I think she's too young - mostly because they are easily broken.
What does she want to use it for?

My dd is 6 and has so far asked for a flutter barbie and a schnookum thing she saw on tv.

Nintendo Ds, and Ipod but she is not fussed about the touch , a new pair of roller skates , and a craft bucket of stuff she saw in a catalogue. She will probably get the rollerblades and most likely an Ipod but probably not a touch as she wants to listen to music and also audio books.... The craft bucket I will probably make up myself and put in her stocking, she adores , bits of ribbons, feathers, sparkly pipecleaners etc ...
She already has a leap pad so not getting the ds until DD2 moves more onto the Leapad, mind you DD2 wamts an Innotab...erm !

I think it is too young - because it is really bad for young ears to be exposed to headphones. This generation of kids are going to have noise-related hearing loss way earlier than any previous one.

Oh and dd2 wants a bike. Last year's best gift was a dog that barks and walks (think it was called Cookie).

My dd got an ipod touch for her 5th birthday. Its in a hard case which saves it from any knocks, and she just uses it for games.

iPad. Not happening. Lego friends and polly pocket I can do. Anything 'One Direction'. I will ask family to get her new curtains and pjs. she already has an iPod which daddy gave her as I was not using it. A huge gift for no particular occasion.

Staples are doing iPod touches for £25? Seriously?

Report
quoteunquote · 26/09/2012 21:04

oh yes, we had to order one as they didn't have any in, but £25, it was lucky DH went in, he only went in because sainsburys, tesco, argos, comet and curries all were out of them, and was wondering where to find one,

we found out that is because a "new" version is coming out soon,so maybe staples are trying to off load the old ones, not that our DD will care, she doesn't care about latest gadget.

I agree about worries about playing music too loud, we have the pillow, cheap speakers and the type of over ear head phones, that have an upper limit on sound.

Both dds aged 6 and 5 will be getting the iPod touch to use for games - basically in place of a DS as the games are much cheaper!

Can't believe anywhere doing the touch for £25- they're min £130 everywhere?

Report
Noqontrol · 26/09/2012 22:28

I'm gutted they are so cheap now. I paid £120 for dd's a month ago. Just told my friend though, hopefully she will benefit from it.

I've had a google - they are def not on the staples website and the closest mention I can find anywhere on google is an iPod shuffle for £25. Quote are you sure it's not an iPod shuffle?

They are very different - it would make much more sense to be a shuffle, especially given apples marketing strategy which doesn't usually allow for bug price drops on old stock.

Noqontrol · 26/09/2012 22:51

It does sound like a crazy price drop.

My dd has asked for a camera. She's getting the 39.99 one I've seen (itshugely reduced) she has borrowed DHs spare one a few times and takes some very decent photos so a basic model is going to be worth it. I shouldn't be posting here, she'll be 7 a couple of days before Christmas (sob, sniff)

Sylvanian Families stuff. Didn't realise they were quite so pricey.

Report
LadyLetch · 27/09/2012 00:18

My DD wants Sylvanian Families, a new leotard for gymnastics and some hair clips.

She'll get that and we've also bought her a playbook. Like an ipod but Kindle sized.

Staples selling I-pod touch for £25???? Really Hmm

Will the 'old' version become unavailable then and only the new ones for sale? They're are around £100 more.

Was hoping they may come down in price but didn't realise everywhere was out of stock already!

No am not going to get my five year old one and she's really too young I think but will get my older son one who is 12.

Neither will be allowed headphones for anything though, they are so bad for their ears.
