Is anyone going to get a furby?

I've just looked at them as they are tipped to be the hot toy of 2012. They do look pretty cool. The dancing is especially cute. But £59.99 for what is essentially a cuddly toy seems a bit steep.
Do think ds would love one but do wonder how long the novelty would last for.

Anyone thinking of getting one?

I've looked at it and thought about it, but I don't actually think it does that much for the money. I had one the first time round (and I was 17!) and all of the claims it made about it learning language from me etc never came to fruition. Unless maybe I was a terrible furby mother. Blush

I'd like to get one for DS1 for the retro feel, but ultimately I think it's one of those novelty things that will end up ignored (by my DS that is) after a couple of days.

Maybe I'll dust off mine. It's abandoned on the bookcase in my childhood bedroom. Seriously, someone ring furbish social services?!

God no. I still can't get the one I had way back when to shut the fuck up. I'm not adding to it!

At that price, not a chance!

Good god no. They freaked me out the last time they were the "in toy" and my little sistet had one - it used to 'wake up' and start talking at at random times of the day and night. Stuff of nightmares IMO.

I bet come Christmas theyll be selling for insane amounts of money on eBay, I am tempted to buy one and stick it on eBay I'm December. Does that make me a very bad person?!
They are a tiny bit scary, the red one looks like road kill, the blue is about the best. I can imagine they would get dull very quickly, the dancing is still cute though!

No - still got one and a furby baby - they are not "cuddly" toys by the way - they are quite hard due to the mechanism -

ours is about 9 years old and still going - they are quite robust - but listening to the stupid thing talk crap - it is a special language we parents have called crapeeze (crap for short Grin ) is a torture from hell - especially for the first few days!

Unless they have upgraded the dancing it consists of a lot of motor noises whilst it kind of moves a little bit.

Your kids also need to be able to talk CLEARLY to illicit the response that they want - or be prepared for them shouting "FURBY DANCE", "FURBY DANCE" over and over and over and....... you need to make some of the lovely flavoured booze and sit in a corner for the first 2 weeks...

There's nothing new under the sun, is there? I can't believe those irritating buggers are back again; it must be the third time?

DS used to take his to bed, then roll over in his sleep and wake the thing up - took forever to shut it up!

We liked Guppy better than Furby - looked like a real pet!

Cleo I went on to amazon yesterday to look at them and went to pre order, do you have to pay now or when its dispatched?

Report
CleoSmackYa · 10/09/2012 18:36

I'm assuming that they took the money immediately? I had to enter all my card details.

vodkaanddietirnbru · 10/09/2012 18:38

according to amazon FAQ's they dont charge you until the item is despatched:

You can place an order for one of these items in the same way as you'd order anything else. We won't charge your credit or debit card until we dispatch the order.
