Just seen today was last second class post. I can't really afford to send all my parcels first class. Do you reckon if I send them on Monday morning they'll get there?

Oh b*gger!

For some reason I thought it was Monday < joins same boat as Lemon, up same creek >

I think it means it's the last date on which they guarantee (hollow laugh) delivery by Christmas. It doesn't mean it will definitely take that long (probably depends on size, route etc), so some at second class may still get there on time anyhow. That's what I'm hoping anyhow.

Perhaps first class just for those where timeliness really matters (any going to children?) or are heading for the back of beyond?

Not to children but a couple to childish sensitive adults. London/Essex mainly.

I'm so annoyed with myself. Most of the presents were bought in November.

I sent a parcel first class yesterday from Somerset and it arrived in Yorkshire today so the mail does seem to be getting through quite quickly.

Oh well - I'll cross relevant appendages and hope for the best! Some might strike it lucky. And there isn't an alternative now.

All posted today. The post office counter bloke told me that there was really going to be very little difference between 1st/2nd class delivery of large envelopes and cards before Christmas. It sounded like he thought they'd certainly all get there.

He was a bit more shoulder-shrug about my larger second class parcels, but when I said I thought they'd probably get there he laughed and said 'oh well'. I bet they do get there.
