Dull but essential - Best/cheapest place to buy batteries

Just wondered if anyone knew of any good websites or High St retailers who have any decent special offers on batteries at the moment. I need to bulk buy for Christmas presents and could do with keeping the costs down if possible

Homebase had an offer - buy 2 packs of Energizer (8 batteries each) for £7 when I went last weekend. Was on AA and AAA. :)

I get all of the batteries at Ikea. I'm a bit lazy and don't shop around though so it might not be the best place.

Asda currently has an offer on Duracell, it's 2 packs for £6. The packs differ in sizes, but for example the AA pack had 8 in them, so 16 for £6 is a good deal.

Aldi do AA and AAA - I forget the exact price, but they were the cheapest we saw this week. That said, we use them for clocks and remotes, not toys or anything high use where you really need to fork out for duracell or similar. These were just bog standard ones.
I usually get a giant megapack from Argos for Christmas, just to make sure we have enough. I haven't priced them this year, but they've always worked out to be good value in the past.

Argos have got Kodak multi packs - 48 AAA's or 36 AA's for £9.99 each - i've just stocked up

depends what for- poundland have been fine for the kids toys which are only on for small periods of a time - tesco had cheap ones last week - as do B&Ms

Poundland had 10 packs of Kodak on bogoff so 20 for a pound.

Our 99p shop does 12 packs of random unheard of brands but have been fine for toys

Lidl. IMO their batteries are priced like "cheap" ones, but last like the good brands

Are your children young and therefore liable to leave toys "on"? I buy cheap from the 99p shop for this reason. That way I haven't wasted the poor batteries that last for ages.
Check which batteries you need too. I think its alkaline for things that have low but consistent use and some other sort for other motorised things. Have found that alkaline batteries do well in the Wii for example.

argos do large packs of aa and aaa i buy them every year, i avoid toys that take the 9v and the larger batteries if poss, it has often been the deciding factor when thinking which one shall i get.

we use about 9 million batteries for our wii (santa is bringing chargers) and the kodak ones seem to have good life in them. poundshop ones don't really last that long
