Token gift for a pregnant woman I would usually give a bottle of wine to

Title says it all really!

We usually give a bottle of wine to my Dad's girlfriend's sons and partners (got that?!) as a bit of a token gift but this year one of them is pregnant, due in January.

Any ideas? It needs to be cheap (£5 or under ideally) oh, and they don't eat chocolate or sugar!

Many thanks in advance!

Alcohol-free wine

Give the wine still, but tie a tag on the top with a 'do not open until jan' sign on it.
I never drink wine I am given straight away, it always stays in wine rack for a while...

Still give them the wine. She might be grateful for it come Jan.

I'd still get her wine, she can still enjoy a glass now and then.

If she's planning to breastfeed, she might not want to drink it for months, so I'd avoid the wine. Personally, I'd go for nice bath stuff, because she's really going to want a nice, hot soak some day soon! Or some other fancy foodstuff - fancy spice mix/conserve/biscuits etc?

Nice hand cream? My hands were like sandpaper with all the extra hand washing that comes with a newborn

I'd stick with the wine. Many pregnant women drink the occasional glass of wine.
You don't want her thinking that you are policing her pregnancy Grin. You could always throw in a small box of fancy chocolates if you know for sure that she isn't drinking.

I'm due in Feb and personally wouldn't appreciate the wine. I know that some pregnant women do drink wine but I'd feel quite awkward if somebody gave me a bottle knowing that I was pregnant.

I second the bath stuff - a warm bubble bath is heaven to me right now and whilst I wouldn't normally go for that kind of thing, I would be very appreciative of it now!

Some brilliant ideas - thanks everyone! Never thought about non alcoholic wine!

I would give the wine anyway - she can have a glass and her DH can have the rest of the bottle! I am pregnant and might feel a touch "who are you, the pregnancy police?" if I got bath salts and everyone else got wine!

I think I'd feel like that too, particular with a label on it saying 'dont touch until Jan' Grin

I'm due in February and would prefer bath stuff to wine. I know some people hate it but lush have pre-wrapped Christmas sets starting at around £5. There's nothing better for me when everything aches than having a lovely bubble bath, then if I choose to have a glass of wine (should the heartburn not be too bad) I can anyway, although most pregnant people I know save their alcohol allowance for social events and meals rather than drinking it at home.

All that aside, I wouldn't be offended if anyone did buy me wine, although it would probably end up being given to guests visiting over the Christmas period when they come round for drinks
