I want to get two for dh this year (1 per child).
The choice of companies out there is a bit overwhelming though so any recommendations?

I did one once through Apple. It came back fine :) Earlier this year I saw that if you sign up to the Tesco online photo service then you can get a photo book free (or 40 free prints) so that might be worth looking at too.

I got one for our 10th anniversary for DH from Photobox which was quite good especially if like me you wanted more control over the layout some are very fixed about what you put where/ how many photos etc
Quality was ok too

I agree with wonkylegs Photobox is great. I had a lovely book from there recently. But I marginally prefer Truprint, as I prefer their layouts. We have photobooks instead of photo albums now- I love them!

They do nice photo books, my mum got one done by them for my nephew when he was born.

snapfish - we do one every six months and the quality is good, plus ability to change. Tries asda once and it is horrid.

I have used bonusprint , photobox and albelli. I think albelli pages are much better quality than the others.. But i tend to just go with whichever company has an offer on...

Blurb is amazing. Proper book-style. I did one for my DD's first birthday this year, my DH wept when he saw it

Photobox fan here. Did one for Dh's 40th birthday. They are always doing offers. Have been v impressed with quality and speed of service, and also use them for other photo gifts such as calendars for ILs, mugs etc.

I am looking at doing calenders for the grandparents, aunts etc. Which is better quality - Truprint or Photobox?

I tend to stick to Photobox as I've always been happy with their products and their customer service is second to none. However is price is an issue keep an eye on Groupon, KGB deals, Itison etc as photobook offers tend to come up on them pretty regularly.
