Helllppp. We went to the museum of childhood at the weekend and my DD was playing with a construction toy and said father christmas might get her one. Looks exactly like this link but the nuts, bolts and screwdriver etc were plastic. The strips and blocks were wooden. The toy was loose in a box and so no packaging to go off. Although it was in a room about meccano etc, the first meccano sets dont look like it. Can anyone tell me what it is?

It looks like the "Build it" stuff from early learning centre, that is plastic and I have had to make that picture for my DS, Have a look!

My brother had some BILOfix - it was brilliant!

IKEA does a really nice modern take on that sort of thing.

dilbertina Mon 03-Oct-11 17:12:53

Wasn't the IKEA one was it? Hang on I'll find a link...

dilbertina Mon 03-Oct-11 17:19:31

Product link isn't working - hope they're not discontinuing it! Anyway, it's the top one on this page and good value for money.

pramsgalore Mon 03-Oct-11 17:39:43

grin i spend far too much time on the internet

Tinkerisdead Mon 03-Oct-11 20:15:10

Dilbertina i cant see anything like it on ikea? Whats it called?

swampster Mon 03-Oct-11 23:34:36

This is the IKEA tool thingy - but not from their website.

How strange, was on their site when I looked and has now disappeared. Well done swampster for tracking down a picture! It's the BYGGA construction set, they have been selling it for years at about £10. Must be being discontinued or upgraded. Worth a quick look if you have a nearby IKEA for remaining stock. They had plenty in my local IKEA the other day, but since I'm in France that's probably not much help!

Lol after all that no it wasnt the ikea one! I was in ikea last week looking at their toy kitchen and they def didnt have that set in there. Gonna try to get a small heros set.
