Can anyone tell me if Brio ever goes on sale/offer and/or where I can get some good deals on sets?

There are lots of brio-a-likes on ebay which are compatible with the real thing. We have loads of them and they are great.

TK MAXX do Brio half price, they often have stuff in.

We bought Big Jigs and that is brilliant, much cheaper and there's loads of extras you can get. It also fits with Brio (including Thomas Tank Brio trains), Tesco and other wooden tracks as they seem to be a standard size. My DS got his for his second birthday and has played with it every day since (nearly 3 now).

what we got DS

Big Jigs make imitations of real trains too for the tracks, as we went to National Railway Museum with DS and it is all sold in there. It really is a good range, and much more reasonable than Brio.

other stuff they do

Boots sometimes have half-price Brio (especially in their January sales). I got two sets for DD (which are currently in the attic as she's a little small at the mo!). I agree that BigJigs do a great range and now buy this in preference, we've only just found out about it.
