I don't think it's the one your talking about but I have a stupidly simply recipe for chocolate truffles. It's really a total cheat.
Get a Betty Crocker Devils Food Cake mix, a can of condensed milk, and white/milk/dark chocolate.
Pour some of the mix into a bowl and slowly add the condensed milk until you have a nice firm dough. roll into small truffle balls. Then melt the chocolate and dip the truffles into it. Then place on some parchment paper on a baking tray and place in the fridge to set.
Toooo easy!
I'll put up a photo on my profile of the last ones I made.

Delia smith for them all, very easy. The truffles come out lovely as do the mince pies and christmas puddings. Time to make my mincemeat soon

I have been making this Christmas Cake from good old Delia for about 20 years and it never fails me. My DM has probably been making it for 30 years. I make my own marzipan, using, oddly enough Delia's recipe. Icing - sometimes I cheat and buy ready roll stuff and when I can be bothered I make Royal icing.

Mince Pies. I tend to make my own mincemeat, but the Robinsons one is rather good and I make shortcrust pastry for them.

Truffles: Yep - I make these ones from good old Delia!

My Grandma makes gorgeous truffles and in theory they last longer ones containing cream:

6oz dark chocolate
1.5oz unsalted butter
2oz icing sugar (sifted)
2oz ground almonds
2 tblsp brandy (or other booze, I usually slosh in a bit extra!)

Melt 2/3rds of choc into a bowl over pan hot water and add brandy. Grate the remaining chocolate and set aside.
When chocolate is melted and mixed with brandy, stir in butter.
Mix in icing sugar and ground almonds and blend well.
Leave in fridge until firm enough to handle.
Roll into balls which can then be rolled in the grated chocolate.

thanks so much for all replies and recipes.
i'm ashamed to say that my idea of home-made mince pies is buying the jars of mincemeat and ready roll pasty?!!
however, i am determined to make my own choc truffles this year - that will be a first !! Grin
