DS2 aged 4 has recently got really interested in Lego Pharaoh's Quest.

Was very bizarre trying to explain what a mummy was.......!

Anyway, can't believe the prices of some of the larger boxes. Is my only hope ebay?

boots normally have some sets in the 3 for 2 offer at Christmas, only it's not alwasy the sets you want

if you buy it in a lego shop they have a loyalty stamp scheme that give you money off eventually

at the moment the co-op near my parents has 25% off. About 6 weeks ago I got some from Sainsbury's at similar reduction.
However, if you want certain things, I can recommend Bricklink.com which is the hobbyists' site, with sellers based all over the world. You can search on just UK sites. You can buy individual bricks if you are desperate for, say, 20 orange roof tiles!!!

(I have a 3.10yo lego maniac)

I still would't call it cheap but Amazon is often below RRP for Lego, at this time of year anyway.

Thanx loads OddBoots.
Have just ordered 2 boxes from Amazon, the prices were very good.
I never think to order toys from Amazon, only books. Will definitely have a gander come christmas.

moonbells - is the bricklink.com a good site? had a look at it and it does seem to have really cheap Lego but I am worried about being scammed and not receiving my items or having payment details cloned!

we've ordered many times from bricklink and never had a problem

there are loads of sellers on there, all have ratings (like ebay feedback), you can chose sellers based in the uk if you prefer

you can also pay by paypal so they wouldn't see your card details

many thanks. Do you find it much cheaper on there?

we've used bricklink to replace missing bits, either from very old sets DH has a a boy, or from second hand sets on eBay. There are sites online that list the complete parts needed for each set, so you can work out what you need to order. Also we've bought things like roof tiles and animals from bricklink as sometimes the sellers have a minimum order value.

myBOYSareBONKERS I think bumpybecky has covered it all (sorry didn't reply yesterday - hectic day!)
I found a couple of good sellers after a few goes and look at them first if I want anything in particular. (abrickormore is a good one - run by a lady in Nottingham, if you order first thing, and pay the invoice by paypal ASAP after it arrives, she's invariably got it in the post by mid-afternoon with reasonable postage too.)
I had quite a lot of lego as a child though there weren't the sets there are now. Though things like the cogs were fun, the tiny axles to hold them in the wheel bricks had all gone AWOL. I got six new ones for a few pence...

On ebay, there's a chap who sells bags of 500 random pieces for about £18; postage is supposedly free but he used to sell them at £11.99 plus £2.99 so he's jammed prices right up. I bought two bags like this - they really are random! But good if you want stuff to just build with. We're up to 4 celebrations plastic boxes now. I also bought a bag of wheels off ebay because I think DS builds in the grand tradition of Gerry Anderson :) and puts silly numbers of wheels on everything!

You can have mine, for free, if it stops me finding little tiny bits of lego scattered around the god damn house.....grrrrrrrrrrrr.

er, for the 500 pieces? It was jgenterprises09 (and the prices are even higher than when I got mine, sadly)

I've had a good and bad experience with a Bricklink seller (the same one) who then noted my order has having 'arrived' when it didnt ...

My Mum has recently got buy one secong half price from W H Smiths but the choice was better in the shop than online. You could also wait for the Sainsburys half price sale. I want to get the Police station but its currently showing as out of stock ..... ooh that was last week just going off to check

Last couple of years sainsburys has had a half price toy week offer when everything is half price.

If you can fight your way through the scrum and get there good and early/when they are restocking they certainly had Lego kits although I don't know how many of the big ones, more of the small and medium size ones. Also check on their website to see if you can order or reserve half price toys through it.

Last year it was in oct/nov half term (pain trying to Xmas shop with a 5 yr old watching intently!) but definitely worth it. Also good for stocking fillers, things like little cars, small Lego sets, bath toys, dragons, bouncy balls etc. Lots of pink/girl stuff too but I didn't need to get any of that!

Play.com have some really good deals on at the minute, not just on lego, plus it is free delivery on everything too (or at least it was last week!)
