I'm toying with making my own cards this year. Possibly involving ds (2) and dd (4mo).

Any ideas/ suggestions/ instructions gratefully received! :)

Last year I made a Christmas tree out of handprints, took a picture and then sent that to immediate family. - I didn't think everyone we knew would really want one! Blush

I'm having my dd (2) paint on big sheets of paper, then I'll punch out the circles (large punch), stick them to the card and make them into "ornaments" by drawing the top hook thing-y on it.

similar idea - random paint on large sheets - maybe use red and green paint. Cut into stocking shapes, stick on card, add cotton wool trim and a bit of glitter.

I always make my own cards, usually using bits I've recycled from last years Christmas cards together with some stickers and crepe paper.

Last year for family and DD's nursery friends I cut out a load of bauble shapes then let DD (3) go mad with silver and gold star stickers and glitter glue. I put some thread on them and stuck/hung them onto a card.
Some family members put the baubles onto their tree, I expect the rest went in the recycling bin.

Oh and I've just remembered I made so many and she was having such fun that we made enough to use as tags for everyone's presents too.

I've saved some of DD's painting too to use as background for cards.

Ohhh, im looking for ideas too. Saw one which was a green triangle wrapped with very bumpy wool and a trunk of card. Looked very effective. ( my description doesnt do it justice!)

I'm sure someone on here last year suggested getting their child to do a green upside down hand print on the card, then adding a star at the top to make a christmas tree. I don't know who suggested it, but thank you, I will trying doing this, this year.

I've just put a photo on my profile that I took of my little boy a couple of days ago. I think I will print this out as a Christmas card too.

Chirp, that photo is amazing! I want to do the same with my dd!
What other light did you have in the room to get this effect?
On a health and safety note, did the lights get hot? :)

Thanks Lolli, no they didn't get hot as they are the LED lights. I had a small lamp to the left hand side and did a little photo trickery afterwards to make it all a little brighter and make the lights "glow" a bit more.
