Just his parents and me (but I usually get a wad of cash)

writes the cards for his family

Buying and wrapping presents is a joint operation

Getting tree is a joint thing and me and kids decorate

He puts up lights

I cook dinner

I do all the shopping for presents (DC and both sides of family) though obviously and arrange food shopping (ordered online for home delivery). Write Christmas cards, arrange who is coming to us, who we are going to, sort tickets for panto, co-ordinate attendance at nativities, school discos etc

BUT

DH puts up outside decorations and more importantly he cooks the entire Christmas dinner through choice and enjoys it greatly.

I think I'm a very lucky girl Xmas Smile

He helped me tie the garland to the banister yesterday. He buys my gifts. Erm......that would be it.

In his defence: he is working hard to earn money to enable me to arrange the rest so it's cool with me :)

Does all the presents and cards for his side of the family, puts up our (tiny fake) tree. He also did all the driving to visit family as I only passed my test this year. So I guess we'll be sharing that now.

Why lucky Haribo? Sounds like you do your share.

Most years of our marriage not a lot but thats because he's usually been working away from home.

This year because he's not working
he's written the cards
I bought them
He's wrapped most of the gifts except his own
Again I bought most of them
He put up the decorations and tree

So I guess ours is, at last, a joint operation.

this year

a new fridge Hmm

TheHoneydragonsInTheIvy · 16/12/2010 13:47

Dh signs the cards for his family (I buy them all). I buy and wrap all the presents (except what he buys for me) and post everything. I plan menus, shop for and cook all tthe food, and generally sort out social arrangements for Christmas/New Year. I also sort out ds's social arrangements, cards etc.

I order the Christmas tree (which gets delivered), and put up the decorations - although dh has just helped me lug the tree inside and put it up! Xmas Shock.

But having said this, dh can really take or leave Christmas, and I think left to his own devices would send a few cards and that would be it.....

Went in loft to get decoarations down.
Buys my gift.
Takes DD shopping (they are going tomorrow weather permitting) so she can buy me a gift.

Erm.... that's it.

But I am the more organsised one of us so I tend to just get it sorted.

Choosing/thinking of presents: me
Wrapping presents: me
Putting up tree & tree lights: DH
Decorating tree: me
Decorating rest of house: me
Writing cards: DH (we don't really do cards, DH might write a couple)
Making Christmas cake: me
Food shopping: both
Cooking Christmas lunch: DH

So, all in all, DH buys and wraps for 1 (me), whilst I buy and wrap for more than 20; I do most of the decorating, he does most of the cooking (except I have made Christmas cake, and foodie gifts this year).

Gets off very lightly, me thinks.

He puts up the tree and decorates it (I hate this bit).

He will pick up some shopping if I give him a list.

He helps wrap presents.

He will sit telling his Mum all the wonderful gifts we have for his family and she will give him the "My amazing son" look.
He fails to mention that if it wasn't for me searching the net and high street for FIL's gift then he would be getting a 3 for 2 at Boots Hmm.

I did ask him to pick his Mum's gift up on Sunday a box of chocolates and some perfume.
He came back with a Dr Who Lunchbox and a sticker from Father Christmas after taking the 4 year old to the Grotto.

I am going tomorrow for perfume and chocs.

Dh keeps my sherry glass topped up whilst I frantically wrap stockings on Christmas eve and will occasionally say really helpful things about 9pm, when all the shops are close like "oh WE forgot to get AA batteries" and "Did WE get a present for (insert random person who we hardly ever see)"

But I do get brought a cup of tea in bed every morning throughout the year. Grin

Gets the decs out of the loft

puts the lights up

writes the cards for his family

buys quite a few gifts (well i do, on his card Grin )

Then sits back and enjoys the yummy food and beer all over christmas while muggins here runs around like a loon trying to make everything perfect :)

Oh he is very good at putting toys together on christmas morning!

I let my DH off, he works bloody hard for us all so he gets to sit back and enjoy :)

we plan what we are buying for who together, DH does internet shopping and I do most of the in town shopping.

DH gets decs out, we decorate as a family though I rearrange baubles once kids have put them all low in a clump.

We write cards as a family, all signing them, DH write envelopes while I write the personal note in the cards

DH does most of the wrapping, I do tags and ribbons.

I do all coordinating of kids parties, nativities etc. I also do all the making of presents for GPs, aunts etc with the children, this can be stressful and time consuming.

we usually go to family for Christmas itself, but I plan menus and do all the cooking around Christmas - he may do internet shop for it. I always make and decorate Christmas cake.

is a fair share of responsibilities i think.
