I don't have a lot of money, and I don't just want to fill it with chocolate.

A lot of the smaller, cheaper toys aren't suitable for under threes, so I'm really struggling.

TIA for any ideas

Practical things can be good as you'll need them anyway, so sponge, socks, toothbrush, bathtoy are all good for that purpose

I was given an animal jigsaw from ELC £7. 4 or 5 diff animals made of 2 jigsaw pieces. also, wooden blocks that stack on a stick. my 16MO loves them. little finger puppet books are good too... around £5 i think. i'm not buying much for my DD this xmas as she will get loads from family and we will be away anyway. also, her fave things to play with are my wet knickers (taken from the drying rack when just washed) - she puts them on her head and runs around!

He'd love a torch actually, but play doh is a no no, because he'll eat it.

He already has a bubble blower and it terrifies him, so no bubbles Sad

The jigsaw is another good idea.

MIL is buying books I think, and my neighbour works in a book shop and is always buying them for him, but I might get one of the mini libraries I've seen.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone Smile I was just having a complete mental block about it all

my 20mo ds is getting in his stocking:

book

small wooden jigsaw puzzle (loves puzzles at the moment)

crayon roll & small pad of drawing paper (got the idea for a crayon roll on here, basically you make it from different coloured felt with a little compartment for each crayon, think he will love taking them in and out as well as drawing with them! there's instructions here)

some fruit

and that's it - don't want to make him too excited first thing!
