Christmas film for little children?

I'm really looking forward to Christmas and part of it for us is snuggling up on the sofa with a good cheesy movie to get into the spirit.

Can anyone recommend good Christmassy films for little ones? I'm finding it tricky as muppets Christmas carol terrifies my son who can be quite sensitive.

I've never seen polar express, for example... would this be good one?

Thanks!

snowman a BIG no-no as it will definitely end in tears!

Thanks for the "mild peril" heads-up in Polar express.

Miracle on 34th st... can't remember that one and will definitely check it out!

Olive the reindeer - will google!

Olive was only three quid including postage on Amazon the other day - there are clips on youtube. Nothing scary in that one.

There's a little cartoon called The Santa Clause Brothers if I remember rightly. About 45mins -1hr long I think but lovely all the same. I remember having it on video 7 or 8 yrs ago but it was very popular with the little ones.
Maybe a google search will find it?

If you can get hold of the Jane Hissey/Little Bear Christmas specials they are well worth it. There are two of them I think.

I love ELF but I'd have to watch it again to check what age it's pitched at.

I don't remember if it has any scary bits in it.

Have booked Robbie and the Santa Claus Brothers from the library, thanks!!!

No luck with old/little bear DVDs on amazon, although that would have been great for wussy sensitive kids.

I love Christmas films. When the kids are in bed, I'll make DH watch the muppets one with me.

ELF - I hate Will Ferrell! Sorry!

What's the one with Dudley Moore...?

Ah, Santa Claus the movie, of course.

Blush at my lack of Christmas spirit towards Will Ferrell!

I love Miracle on 34th St, but my DD could only be bothered to watch it last year (age 10) and DS (age 5) really not interested. I usually try to catch it every year though.

Santa Claus the Movie is a MUST in our house on Christmas Eve, it's lovely. However can be a bit long for little ones.
Jingle All the Way is another one that's really funny.

I too have a wussy sensitve child DD (5) who really does hide behind the sofa or stands in the hall at the hint of mild peril the 3 year old DD is a different matter, would n't want to meet her on a dark night - she's rock hard.

Santa Claus the movie - is the BEST one!!! Grin

Elf.... we love it here - but discovered the other day (yes watching it already) that its a PG and the word 'pissed' is in it! Shock was sat there hoping that DD didn't hear it!!!

Muppet Christmas Carol - watched several times usually
Miracle on 34th Street
The Grinch

Old DVD's/videos that were good for us were Jane Hissey's "Old Bear - Christmas episodes", and Wind in the Willows "Mole's Christmas", and one narrated by Joanna Lumley called The Forgotten Toys.
