I hardly know her, she is 40 and I wouldn't know what to get her to read etc.

I was thinking of some nice body lotion or something from Clarins but I always get her "smellies."

Any other ideas? DPs brother isn't much help with suggestions either.

Nice candle.
Bottle of Baileys.
Picture frame.
Nice cushion.

Like the idea of Baileys. Can't go far wrong with booze (though I am pg so maybe just lusting after booze for me)

Or one of the oxfam-gift aid things (sponsoring a goat or something like that)?

Thanks TeeBee. I might get a candle and picture frame. She has three children so that could work well.

BubbaAndBump - I have no idea what alcohol she likes apart from wine but I am looking forward to Baileys season.

Unfortunately the Oxfam idea would probably not impress her too much. She can be a bit snooty. Hence why we don't see them much!

And BubbaandBump - congratulations! When are you due?

BubbaAndBump Sun 21-Nov-10 19:14:12

Thanks reddaisy - due in two lonnnnnnnnnnnng months!

If she's snooty, even better reason to get her the Oxfam thing, or is that not really entering into the Christmas spirit!? blush

With Christmas being just around the corner, I'm sure your baby will be here before you know it.

DD was nearly a month early btw so you might not have to wait as long as you think!

I would LOVE to get her an Oxfam gift but DP might want to get a more commercial gift.

Speaking as a snooty 40 year old, I'd like a photo frame out of everything you've mentioned.

Baileys makes me heave.

BubbaAndBump Sun 21-Nov-10 20:05:12

Hehehe - Baileys it is then!! wink

Nigella's new book
a Ness handbag
a Cath Kidston mug
jewellery from Marks or next with gift receipt
a tiered cake plate - I like the Cath kidston triple tiered one or there's a fab one in Laura Ashley that I got from my SIL last year
Yankee candle

(all of the above I've either given or received to/from my SILs in the past couple of years)

Yueck baileys- I would hate that. I am most definitely snooty then!

White company candle and room spray.

Emma Bridgewater
Alessi kitchenware

John Lewis stock both.

Have tried to think of something I'd like for Christmas instead of a bottle of Baileys, and think you'd be fairly safe with any of the following

Molton Brown stuff
Cath Kidston flask
Annie Lennox's new CD of reworked Christmas songs
Emma Bridgewater things (agree with both of Taffetacat's suggestions actually)
