Jobs Unlimited If you're one of those who used to buy the Guardian once a week for the jobs page - or you just want to see what's out there, this is the site for you. Part of the Guardian Unlimited website, it allows access to all the jobs advertised in the Guardian, plus some offered by recruitment consultants. Excellent search function allows you to search by type of job as well as by salary (minimum and maximum, though not sure who turns a job down because they're offering too much money). Sadly it all takes rather a long time - long enough to tempt us to give up - but maybe we just caught it on a bad day.
Monster.co.uk User-friendly site that sells itself as a comprehensive careers service. Useful CV and interview technique advice to make you feel as if you're doing something constructive. Acknowledges that women workers have different needs and has section on maternity rights. Tap in part-time and jobs do appear, though nothing that appealed to us. One to watch if you're serious about going back.
New Ways to Work New Ways to Work is a charity dedicated to helping individuals, trades unions and employers explore new ways of working. Sadly there's no list of super family-friendly jobs, though they do have an advice line and promise to respond within a week to your query, so that may be worth a try. See if you can get your firm (if you have one) to join the 21st century Gold Club - membership indicates a commitment to helping employees achieve a work-life balance - now that would be something.
