Best opaques that don't cost the earth

I have been spoiled by Falke as their 100den come in multiple sizes, cover everything, and never fall down.
But they are beyond pricey (I could get shoes or a t-shirt for that price). EBay has a few colours regularly (purple, dark charcoal, and a brown called Brenda!). I have managed to get one black pair on there.
Any others that come close? I think I tried M&S and they aren't as thick plus they don't quite fit (not as many sizes). Boden are rubbish. So basically is any other brand... Any thoughts?

I swear by Amazon. I get all mine from there and I live in tights (honestly I own one pair of begging a which I wear once a month tops). I wash my tights after every wear and even tumble them and they are still goi g strong. The reviews are hit and miss but for me they are fantastic. I've got them in bottle green, purple, blue, brown, teal, dark grey, dove grey. They do other colours and despatch is really fast Smile

Which brands do you go for on Amazon? There's so many!

OhFuckOff · 18/10/2016 20:50

Opaque tights by romartex sold by paradise for women Confused. £2.99 plus 0.98p postage. Honestly they work for me, I'm 31 5ft 2 and size 8-10 I get the medium

mowglik · 18/10/2016 20:59

Tkmaxx sell falke tights - saw them today for £6.99, there was lots of grey and one black

drspouse · 18/10/2016 21:17

They all vanish in 5 mins in our TK Maxx, that's how I tried them in the first place but never managed to get them in my size again.
Off to look at Amazon!

M&S Autograph 100 denier velvet touch.
Has to be these ones for me - the gazillion other M&S variants simply don't cut it.
They seem to sell out quickly at my local shop so I stock up when I see them and when I have a discount code. Wash well and last for ages so I don't begrudge the cost.
HTH Smile

Tu ( Sainsburys ) 80 denier are great for the money. Pack of 3 costs less that £10. Lovely and soft. Keep their shape amd wash well

burnishedsilver · 18/10/2016 21:39

Much to my surprise, the best opaques I've ever had are from primark.

chaplin1409 · 18/10/2016 21:53

I have to say I like the Primark tights too. I also like m and s.

rockingthelook · 18/10/2016 22:02

Pretty Polly, 2 pairs for £2.99 from Home Bargains, soft and last for ages

MrsRogerSterling · 18/10/2016 22:02

Primark 100 denier velvet touch are my favourite and I have tried lots at all different price ranges.

rosie1959 · 18/10/2016 22:04

No fan of Primark but their tights fit the best and last forever

Catcrazy08 · 18/10/2016 22:06

Primark 300 denier

Caper86 · 18/10/2016 22:08

I second sainsburys 100 den

TotalConfucius · 18/10/2016 22:34

I'm wearing Tesco F+F at the mo, bought when I was caught on the hop last week.
I'm really very pleased with them. They feel very silky and velvety but no shine at all, and I walked along a beach today in wet and stormy weather and stayed very snug and warm. No static to report. And they've stayed almost exactly where I put them this morning.

calzone · 18/10/2016 22:35

I've just bought some from Lidl. Will let you know

vghifcqueen · 18/10/2016 22:37

100% Primark, their tights are fantastic

handsomeboymodellingschool · 18/10/2016 22:41

George at Asda, they are brilliant

BitOutOfPractice · 18/10/2016 22:52

Primark for me too.

ChameleonCircuit · 18/10/2016 23:24

DD wears opaque for school and we've found Tesco and Sainsbury's to be very long lasting, comfortable and not too pricey.

Doobigetta · 19/10/2016 06:29

I like the tesco F&F ones. M&S always seem to develop a crotch gap on me, regardless of size.

FoxesOnSocks · 19/10/2016 06:35

Primark definitely.

I like uniqlo tights.

ItGoesWithoutSaying · 19/10/2016 08:58

Primark (80 or 100 dn usually) but buy off places like eBay or Amazon if I want funky colours (there's a brand called something like Missi that do 100 dn in loads of colours less than £3 a pair).

drspouse · 19/10/2016 09:25

OK I've ordered some of those Ebay ones, cheap enough that it doesn't matter if they are no good! I'll pop into Primark when I feel brave too.

It is really the crotch gap that's a pain I find, I'm trying a pair of Falke 50den today which seem OK so far and not too thin so maybe I could go with their slightly cheaper ones.
