So I'm almost in my third trimester and with only 3 months to go I have started to set my eyes on the days/weeks after baby arrives. Aside from looking forward to our new bub I'm looking forward to the things I've had to give up!

Are there any foods or drinks you're missing that you would plan to have after the baby comes? I've told DH that he has to take me on a steak dinner (I miss having them medium rare) or for seafood sushi!

Of course this has to be after:

  • I am physically recovered to be out and about and no longer in danger of peeing my pants in public
  • we find somewhere baby friendly or can con my sister to babysit for an afternoon/evening

I cannot answer this question as, with the exception of unwashed fruits and vegetables, I ate everything on the "banned" list while I was preggers Blush

LauraMipsum · 29/07/2016 15:58

Mine was pate on posh toast and a bottle of my favourite real ale, at home on return from the hospital. One of the best meals I've ever had!

Maybebabybee · 29/07/2016 16:00

Actually I tell a lie, I didn't drink.

Captainkanga · 29/07/2016 16:04

Eggs Benedict! Roll on November!

GrouchyKiwi · 29/07/2016 16:05

With DD1 it was Eggs Benedict.

Don't think I did anything special with DD2. Probably just a large glass of wine.

This time I really wanted a fish finger sandwich. None of the ingredients were off limits during pregnancy so I'm not sure why I fixated on that. It was bloody marvellous, though. Grin

TheABC · 29/07/2016 16:05

Mussels in white wine with a large plate of chips. It was flipping marvellous.

Maybebabybee · 29/07/2016 16:05

Guys runny eggs are off the banned list now.

NeedACleverNN · 29/07/2016 16:06

I will tell you the very best meal I had straight after giving birth...

Toast and tea. It was bliss Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 29/07/2016 16:06

CaptainKanga They've just decided raw eggs are fine in pregnancy so you could absolutely have Eggs Benedict now if you wanted to.

Scarydinosaurs · 29/07/2016 16:07

I had a pate, steak and prawn meal after DD1 and it was awesome!

Changingagain · 29/07/2016 16:08

I had GD so for me, it was carbs. Any carbs. As many carbs as I could get. Plus chocolate. Boy did I enjoy the buttered white toast they brought me.

thumb3lina · 29/07/2016 16:08

I got my DH to bring me a mr whippy ice cream to hospital as soon as I was allowed to eat again! I had been craving it since I got pregnant and it's on the banned list.

QueenImprov · 29/07/2016 16:08

My first night home I had a rare steak, with blue cheese sauce, followed by Brie and pate on crackers. Then I went to Yo Sushi as soon as I could to eat my body weight in sushi.

Lules · 29/07/2016 16:09

Wasn't banned, but I was very sick during pregnancy, so I really wanted Nandos once I'd given birth. My husband brought me some to the postnatal ward. 'Twas lovely.
(And we had a private room and he took the empty packaging to a bin outside so we didn't make the ward smell or anything)

MoreGilmoreGirls · 29/07/2016 16:10

My toast was burnt was such a let down Sad

At home I had pâté and champagne Grin

Tfoot75 · 29/07/2016 16:10

Everything tasted delicious immediately after giving birth for me after being pretty much off food for 8 months both times! Even the pork crumble Hmm served in hospital.

My tip is to go while baby is in the first sleepy phase and will likely stay asleep in pram/car seat while you have a nice worry free meal!

VictoriaRoses · 29/07/2016 16:11

Parma ham and Brie sandwichesSmile

beela · 29/07/2016 16:12

JellyTeapot · 29/07/2016 16:14

Runny eggs are allowed but Mr Whippy's banned? I can't keep up!

coppergrey · 29/07/2016 16:16

Goat's cheese, cured meat and a glass of red wine. CANNOT WAIT.

DrDiva · 29/07/2016 16:20

I was nil by mouth for 48 hours over birth. The cup of tea and slice of toast I had remains with me as the best meal ever.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 29/07/2016 16:22

Dominos pizza. Mostly because I couldn't be arsed to cook and the new baby was the perfect excuse :)

Elllicam · 29/07/2016 16:30

When I was in labour with DS1 I was fasted for about 12 hours, I was bloody starving. All I fixated on was this kfc caramel Kreme ball thing I had seen in adverts. I pictured layers of cream and caramel it was very pretty. Well after I gave birth my husband nicked out to get it for me.. what a bloody let down it was ice cream. And it was tiny. Bastarding kfc.
