My 6 year old wants a hatchimal. They are only be released so theres no reviews but the ads are on tv 10 times an hour. Are they going to be a big thing this year? I cam discern much from the little there us online. Are they just a big tomigotchi (sp?).

Interested to hear is anyone else considering them. It would be the big pressie this year as they are getting a trampoline berween thwm

Not heard of these before. Tempted for DS now though! From the description they sound to me more furby like than tamagotchi

TreeBird16 · 26/09/2016 15:32

Are furbys a good fit for that age group? The fact you haven't heard of them makes you a better parent than me as your kids much watch less tv. The ad is in Nick 3-4 times an hourHmm

Probably not! He does most of his watching on the sky iPad app so no adverts...

strawberrypenguin · 26/09/2016 15:56

Not sure about furby's tbh I think they would get played with but how much is anyone's guess! DS is nearly 5 and has been asking when we'll get another pet (we have a cat but the hamster died a few months ago) so I'm wondering if he'all take his as a substitute for now..

DD has been looking at these. Apparently it's an animal (penguin or dragon) in an egg. The egg opens and your animal is inside. It says it needs two batteries to work so I imagine it's just an expensive electronic pet (like all the other similar toys) but with a £70 price tag because it's in an egg. I'm not convinced.

TreeBird16 · 26/09/2016 19:07

Hmmm me neither. I have one pre booked in a toy shop and it should be in stock around oct 7th so I have till then to decide if I take it or not. I'm also not convinced but I like the whole magic part of Xmas so try to honour what they ask Santa for (within reason). I think dd1 could be talked out of it with a little effort though

I have preordered one of these with the smyths toys £10 off code so £50. I'm hoping it's a gamble worth taking.

angeyoung69 · 27/09/2016 21:19

I hadn't heard about them until today when they popped up on my facebook newsfeed. i've done the same and pre-ordered at smyths with the £10 off as I figure as soon as they are released, there will be video reviews all over youtube so if they don't look very good i will take it back. TBH, I'd rather spend more on fewer items for my daughter that she plays with rather than have the house filled with more toys that she forgets about in a few days
They do sound quite good from what I can see

DibDabSherbert · 28/09/2016 15:33

Managed to get one from the entertainer, took some trying though. Had the email alert but kept missing out.
Will be interesting to see what comes out, I chose the teal egg.

Heavenscent86 · 03/10/2016 12:19

Anyone heard when they are getting theirs? I know Argos has already dispatched some.

happyoldtown · 03/10/2016 14:37

Oct 7th from smyths afaik

DibDabSherbert · 05/10/2016 21:43

Just had an email from the entertainer saying mine has been despatched 🐣

Heavenscent86 · 05/10/2016 22:46

I've not heard anything from smyths yet.

DibDabSherbert · 05/10/2016 23:24

Hopefully you will in the next few days. Mine does say despatched but on further reading it says delivery by 10th.

Heavenscent86 · 06/10/2016 08:24

I hope so. Once it arrives my children are finished.

DibDabSherbert · 06/10/2016 08:35

Wow! I'm usually more organised, this year not so. DD will be ten early January and has no idea what she'd like, have bought a fair bit from smiggle as she does like that but other than that I'm stumped.

Heavenscent86 · 06/10/2016 14:19

Yay it's been dispatched. I'm never normally this organised to be fair.

Soubriquet · 06/10/2016 14:23

I am dying to know what these are

Mine are too young to really care about them but I am curious

strawberrypenguin · 06/10/2016 15:46

Still debating whether or not to take a trip to the big toys r us near me tomorrow. DS will be 5 at Christmas and keeps asking for another pet (we have a cat and lost a hamster earlier in the year) wondering if one of these would do for a bit as I've got a 4mo as well and no time for another pet right now. It's a lot of money to get it wrong though.

DibDabSherbert · 06/10/2016 18:28

StrawbPenguin- from tomorrow you will be able to see what they are, my guess is a penguin like furby 😂

strawberrypenguin · 06/10/2016 19:31

I was thinking furby like! Trouble is it still doesn't solve the problem of if it will get played with.....

DibDabSherbert · 07/10/2016 08:39

No that's very true & going by the previous electronics we've had this one probably won't either 😉 but I will 😆

Videos are up on you tube now of them hatching. It appears to be very furby like but has a guide of what to do when it's eyes are different colours. (Rather than having to guess with furby)

I'm considering getting one for DD now. Not sure yet as I think I will watch more reviews before deciding.

DibDabSherbert · 07/10/2016 10:50

Looks what's arrived 😂

Hatchimal
Heavenscent86 · 07/10/2016 10:57

Ooh I like. Is it a good size?
