To ask you how long TTC took?

Just had month 6 of TTC and negative tests still 😞
I know 6 months is nothing really but it is just getting me so down now. I have other DC that were conceived within a month or two but this was from a previous marriage.

I think it just feels like a long time because it is never far from my thoughts. Just feeling really sad at the moment 😞

OP posts:

I'm in the same boat! (Except TTC #1) it seems like it's taking forever! Will be interested to see the responses on the thread (to give hope! Hehe)

Scooby20 · 24/11/2016 08:32

18 months both times. No fertility problems. Just took a long time.

6 months isn't long but it does feel it when tcc. You have my sympathy.

OwlinaTree · 24/11/2016 08:34

Dc1=19 months
Dc2=9 months
Dc3=2 months!

Good luck op.

LittleLionMansMummy · 24/11/2016 08:35

2 years with the first (I have PCOS). Bizarrely just 3 months with the 2nd! I'm now 40 + 2 so expecting baby any day. I well remember the feelings that accompanied ttc ds1, so you have my sympathy op.

ThePeoplesChamp · 24/11/2016 08:38

1st attempt. Tracked ovulation just using an online calculator, was on hol so very chilled and lay with legs in the air for 20 mons or so after dtd. (Husband joined in..... but may have been wine related!!)

First pregnancy and 36 years old, so not a hotbed of fertility.

Good luck

FlipperSkipper · 24/11/2016 08:39

I'm the answer you don't want, 2.5 years as we ended up needing IVF. Hope it works out for you soon.

acquiescence · 24/11/2016 08:46

Around 10 months, had tests and was told I had blocked fallopoan tubes, referred for ivf then got pregnant. Hope it happens for you soon OP, it is so stressful. I know it's the most annoying thing anyone ever says to someone ttc but it happened for us when I stopped tracking and worrying and just relaxed. I also stopped drinking alcohol and lost a little weight (I wasn't overweight to start with but I think this maybe helped).

Kittykatmacbill · 24/11/2016 08:47

2yrs for child 1 and the first month (or practice run month at doing ovulation tracking) so really the month before we intended! My advise would be go all ovulation tracking get pee sticks things from Amazon, keep a very exact diary etc.

Ebbenmeowgi · 24/11/2016 08:49

A year, then I miscarried. Became pregnant again couple of months later though and am expecting any time now! Although it was sad to miscarry it strangely made me relax about the whole thing as at least I knew my body could get pregnant. It's the hardest thing but really try to relax about it!

Mistletoetastic · 24/11/2016 08:50

1 year for number 1, 2.5 years for number two. No medical issues on either side.

MusicalChairsOh · 24/11/2016 08:50

Just over a year for dc1 and first time with dc2, when ds1 was 9 months old.

Losingtheplod · 24/11/2016 08:52

10 months for DS, tried for about 18 months for a second, but gave up when it didn't happen.

PonkAlert · 24/11/2016 08:58

DC1 - 32 cycles (2 miscarriages along the way)
DC2 - 2 cycles

MetalMidget · 24/11/2016 09:05

Two years - turned out that I had PCOS and hypothyroidism. I was put on meds as other tests happened (sperm and fallopian tube checks), but ended up getting pregnant before requiring further treatment (got the positive pregnancy test the day before seeing the fertility consultant!)

I now have a 17 week old lad.

londonrach · 24/11/2016 09:08

10 months. Seriously 6 months isnt that long unless you over 40. Good luck

Dizzybintess · 24/11/2016 09:10

DD 1 was 30 months
Still trying for baby 2 after 24 months and I'm 38

Dizzybintess · 24/11/2016 09:12

My mum and dad tried for 6 years for me 😫

splendide · 24/11/2016 09:13

Problem with these threads is that people tend to only bother replying if their answer is in some way interesting/ unusual. So you get a lot of "2 weeks" and a lot of "6 years".

But I agree with previous posters it seems early to worry.

Purplepixiedust · 24/11/2016 09:18

It took 3.5 years to conceive DS. We didn't have any help. It just happened. Give it a year and then ask your GP to do some checks. Took my parents 14 years (it was a bit of a surprise)!

AgainPlease · 24/11/2016 09:18

2 years. IVF. No medical issues on either side. But agree with PP that you'll most likely end up with extreme answers on this thread.

TheSconeOfStone · 24/11/2016 09:29

18 months the first time. Had just started on the road to fertility treatment due to suspected PCOS (tests came negative despite very light irregular periods). Second month of trying with baby 2. Was a bit of a shock.

GrapesAreMyJam · 24/11/2016 09:29

First time two months, but I had a miscarriage at twelve weeks. Have been trying again since May and had nothing so far!

Cycle 2 with ds1 at 30 years old ds2 took 10 months was 35 when got pg I wasn't ovulating some months and was about to go under monitoring with the GP.

TwoDogs9 · 24/11/2016 09:37

Three months and I was 38. Best thing I did was ditch the ovulation apps etc and forget that I was TTC - it just happened straight away then! DH is still in shock and I'm 32+4 now.

BertieBotts · 24/11/2016 09:37

First time with DS when I was 19 with unsuitable ex! Shock

Then first time with DH aged 27, but miscarried. 3 months later, pregnant again, miscarried again. That was in august and nothing else since. DH reckons my tubes are not picky enough about the sperm they let in and just accept any old rubbish!
