I've snogged every member of Boyzone, including Ronan. I am incredibly proud of this...

DP is fond of telling everyone how much the Queen Mother loved his fart joke. He was escorting her around his barracks when one of the ceremonial horses which had pulled her carriage farted, the Queen Mother said "Oh, I'm terribly sorry!" to which DP replied "Oh, I thought it was the horse!"

He says she split her sides laughing... Hmm

And yes, I'm aware that is a joke as old as time but DP maintains he actually said it. Bless him.

Tale as old as time.

BowieFan · 19/10/2016 22:10

I said that to DP but he's convinced he thought of it. I don't like to rain on his parade too much... Grin

He likes to constantly remind us that Prince William used to have to salute him because DP outranked him at the time.

My Dad always told that story but it was about the Queen and the farting horse. Apparently she was in a parade with a visiting royal and . . . the rest is the same.

He would sometimes tell this twice a day (did not have dementia, was just boring).

He had a talent for telling self-aggrandising tales which were not strictly true so he missed a trick not putting himself in to that one.

BalloonSlayer · 19/10/2016 22:15

Sorry that reads a bit harsh, it was meant to be funny in an affectionate way.

I don't have any celeb anecdotes but I love hearing them

Moanranger · 19/10/2016 22:27

Sat right next to Ralph Fiennes at the Blubird Cafe for 2 hrs - that is, a series of two tops, I sat at table adjacent facing out, he sat facing in. It was really awkward as I had to not look at him. Every time I glanced his way, he gave me this fierce, hostile look. I think he was lunching with Phillip Seymour Hoffman (RIP) & they were talking Broadway plays. He gave off a nervous, high strung vibe, a bit weird. This was mid-nineties.

YouTheCat · 19/10/2016 22:29

I had a lovely chat with John Rhys Davies about his dd's reading age when he found out I'm a TA.

Sylvester McCoy was very shy.

Garret Wang was hilarious and very kind - tweeted dd's friend which made his day.

Ray Park is really funny.

Ralph Macchio (from Scrubs) was insanely funny and very rude. Grin

ssd · 19/10/2016 22:31

OliviaStabler · 19/10/2016 22:31

doubletrouble41 · 19/10/2016 22:35

Don't know if anyone else has heard of him but here goes. Met the late great cult american comedian Bill Hicks at edinburgh festival in 1991. We hung out and went on a shoot saddam hussein fairground stall, and he won a box of chocolates and gave them to me.

Oysterbabe · 19/10/2016 22:37

I had a beer with Terry Pratchett. Nice bloke :)

limon · 19/10/2016 22:38

I've tripped over the manic street preachers, spoken to Norman wisdom and been served cider by James hewitt.

Soyouare2faced · 19/10/2016 22:38

I met Spielberg and he invited us to look at his boat in the docks, which was more like a big fuck off cruise liner , he was extremely pleasant

My brother's best celeb encounter was that he was taught French by j.k.Rowling.

My dad had quite a few as he was in the police and was often on duty when members of the royal family came to our city. He said that prince Philip just says what he thinks. Just like how he is portrayed in the media. Princess Anne was lovely and friendly.

TamzinGrey · 19/10/2016 22:57

Came rushing on to say that Alf from Larkrise to Candleford once smiled and said hello to me, but that seems a bit tame now

Netflixandchill · 19/10/2016 23:00

I saw Shaun Bean verbally abusing his then wife/girlfriend in Camden and I stood and gawped
