Best summer raincoats and macs
With the weather as unpredictable as a grumpy two-year-old, it's always handy to have a lightweight rain jacket to throw on. Mumsnetters share their favourite brands
Seafolly jackets have gained cult status on Mumsnet with their range of bright colours and flattering fit. They look great with jeans or summer dresses, and have saved many on a rainy school run.
"I've got it in navy and it's great, I wear it all the time - sunshine or rain. Goes great with jeans."
"I wore my Seasalt mac for the first time this weekend and it kept me nice and dry. I got one of the patterned ones - I absolutely love it."
The humble pac-a-mac has had a stylish high street update. Not only a staple for festivals and camping trips, it's light enough to keep stuffed in the bottom of your bag all summer as a back-up. This ASOS version comes in a range of styles, including maternity options.
"Have a look at ASOS festival wear - there are some pac-a-parkas on there."
If the temperature is unpredictable, then a North Face Resolve jacket is the perfect option. It will keep you warm without making you sweaty, and comes with a zip-away hood for summer showers.
"I have a Resolve that I just bought after the awful weather! It is great. Very waterproof and looks good too - slightly fitted, the hood tucks away as well. An investment I think!"
"I have a Resolve in the cream colour - it goes with anything! I have a largish handbag and just toss it in there whenever the weather looks iffy. Has saved me on many occasions."
A lightweight mac which is a bit smarter than some of its counterparts, the Seaford is also lovely and long - perfect for those who want a bit of bum coverage.
"I have a Joules light rain jacket which is waterproof and quite pretty. It's great for light showers or if I get caught out."
"This is my favourite raincoat, the hood is great!"
If you're someone who feels the cold but doesn't want to be weighed down by a heavy winter coat, then this is the jacket for you. It's super lightweight, and comes with a handy carry pouch, so you can pop it away in your handbag when the sun comes out again.
"I have the version without the hood - it's fab. I got it after borrowing one when out with a friend who kept it folded down in her bag in case she got cold. It's incredibly light, and surprisingly warm. Definitely worth it."
