"free range children and chickens…"
A small site for tents only with lots of thoughtful extra things to make life easier. There is play equipment in the middle of the field and pitches around the edge. They provide bikes, scooters and ride-ons + baby toys and the kids loved the chickens, pigs and neighbouring horses. The toilets and showers are cleaned often and there is a family shower room with toilet and changing table. A "kitchen shed" has washing up sinks + fridge freezers, a kettle and microwave and washing machine/dryer. The owners are very friendly and constantly available in the reception/shop. Longleat safari park is 15 mins away and you can but discounted tickets through the site.Read moreLess

"The best campsite I have ever been to…"
As the title says, this is definitely the best campsite I have ever stayed at. A simple site - one field with tents pitched around the edge of the field and a playground for children in the middle. So what makes it great? Emma and James, the owners, go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The onsite shop is well stocked - with all the usual staples but also a range of basic camping equipment. Particularly useful for the things that stop working whilst you're there (for us - airbed, kettle, stove) or the things you forget. The way that the site is set up means you can be relaxing by your tent but also keeping an eye on the kids as they play in the middle of the field on the play equipment. The showers are as good as you'd get in many hotels and the toilets are clean and well-maintained and even include a hair dryer. But the piece de resistance for this site is the kitchen shelter - which includes fridge/freezers, a microwave, kettle, washing machine and tumble dryer - all available to use completely free of charge. This completely took all of the hassle out of camping. And of course, unlike too many sites these days, they allow camp fires - providing you with a campfire kit complete with fire pit, logs, skewers and marshmallows. As they say on their website "camping isn't camping without marshmallows". It's also in a great location - near Longleat, Bath, Bradford on Avon, Frome and the Kennet and Avon Canal. Overall, I can't recommend this campsite highly enough.Read moreLess
