"Great site to be based from…"
We took our camper van here for a few days and there was great access to the mountains, the funicular up Cairngorm for the littles or a great big trek for the adventurous. There is also plenty of forest to wander around, a beach on the loch and a play area tucked away in the woodland.
They even have a baby bath sized sink in the family room of the toilet block.Read moreLess
"A magical place to be…"
We visited Glenmore at Easter 2012 in a motorhome with dd (7) and ds (4). We'd had weeks of warm sunshine and expected it to continue but woke up on our second morning there to deep snow! The kids were beside themselves with excitements and we had several amazing days snowballing, sledging on the beach by the loch and even skiing.
The facilities on the campsite are good - the toilets and showers are clean and effective, and there is a nice little playground in the woods. Right next to the campsite there is a fairly well stocked shop with a cosy cafe where you can drink hot chocolate (and presumably cold drinks in the summer!) and watch the birds and red squirrels play.
There is plenty to do nearby. We cycled round the loch, visited the reindeer on Cairngorm mountain, played mini golf and visited the Landmark theme park just outside Aviemore (which is a perfect sized theme park for younger children and is not very theme parky at all if you don't like theme parks).
But the magic really comes from mucking about outside in beautiful surroundings and watching the sun set on the (snow-covered) Cairngorms. Unbeatable.
PS No midges at Easter!Read moreLess
"Location location location…"
Perfect for outdoorsy holidays, there's something for everyone here. Ideal base for outdoor sports (skiing for the brave, watersports, mountain biking, riding, walking, climbing, you name it they do it here) but also plenty to do in wet weather if you've got a car. Within a short drive you can get to pottery painting, soft play, amusement arcades, huge swimming pool, steam train etc. There are also great days out to be had at Landmark and the Highland Wildlife Park, and the Highland Folk Park in Newtonmore is vast, perfect to allow small children free reign and totally free.Read moreLess

"Ideal location for outdoorsy types…"
What a location! If you like walking, cycling, watersports or skiing this is the site for you. It's right in the middle of a network of trails for all abilities. There's a beach nearby too! There's a small shop/cafe at the edge of the site for your basics and the visitors centre across the road does the best Victoria sponge in the world. What more could you ask for?Read moreLess
