Perfect for outdoorsy holidays, there's something for everyone here. Ideal base for outdoor sports (skiing for the brave, watersports, mountain biking, riding, walking, climbing, you name it they do it here) but also plenty to do in wet weather if you've got a car. Within a short drive you can get to pottery painting, soft play, amusement arcades, huge swimming pool, steam train etc. There are also great days out to be had at Landmark and the Highland Wildlife Park, and the Highland Folk Park in Newtonmore is vast, perfect to allow small children free reign and totally free.

"Ideal location for outdoorsy types…"

What a location! If you like walking, cycling, watersports or skiing this is the site for you. It's right in the middle of a network of trails for all abilities. There's a beach nearby too! There's a small shop/cafe at the edge of the site for your basics and the visitors centre across the road does the best Victoria sponge in the world. What more could you ask for?

As the review from MNHQ says, this is a great location with plenty to do. Although a large site, the layout keeps it deceptively small per section. It's a pity though that the Forest Holidays guys who run the site don't let you book particualr pitches or at least multiple ones next to each other - not good if you're travelling with friends and want to be close together - this might be one they change though apparently. Other than the slightly jobs worth manager who was pacing out the 6m you have to have between tents - but with no indication of even vague pitch areas, we had a great time - and yes there are midges in the summer but alcohol seems to dull the effects :o)

"Fantastic for outdoorsy families. Campsite is situated in the heart…"

Fantastic for outdoorsy families. Campsite is situated in the heart of the Cairngorms in Rothiemurchus Forest and about 100 metres from Loch Morlich which has excellent water sports facilities and a fantastic beach. There are plenty of quiet cycle tracks both easy, level ones and hard core mountain biking ones. Lots of lovely different walks; an abundance of wildlife and lots of opportunities to see them close hand at the Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig. There is also the mountain railway to take you right to the top of Cairngorm and if you are lucky enough in the winter, enough snow for snowsports. Aviemore itself has plenty shops and resort facilites for wet weather, neast being the Fun House and Pool at Coylum Bridge Hotel. The campsite itself is run by the Forestry Commission and has recently build two new toilet blocks with baby bathing/changing facilities. Whilst you cannot rent your own caravan or tent, this is a great spot for experiencing the best of Scotland's outdoors.
