Forgewood Camping

We're going back here this weekend after a great weekend last year. It's fields and woods - you can camp in the woods if you like - and there is lots of open space for the kids to roam free, and bushcraft classes are good fun. Love that you can have a camp fire - no foraging for wood but they bring it round on a quad bike for you. It is a little pricey - cashing in on middle class desire to get away from it all - but they don't pack you in so even when it's 'full' you're not on top of your neighbours. The 'facilities' were in portacabins, but very clean.

Be careful with this campsite.
I booked for my family and another family to have a camping holiday here and paid over £100 deposit. Unfortunately, we had to cancel (well within their cancellation policy) and they still haven't refunded my money. It's been two months! They say they've been 'too busy'.
The facilities look nice, but if you're looking for an inexpensive family holiday, be careful. You may end up paying more than you expected!

A lovely little site. Not too far from London so great for a weekend away and Leeds Castle is just down the road. Owners very friendly and helpful.

Hot water was bit hit and miss when we stayed but who wants to shower anyway! ;-) The kids certainly don't mind being mucky!

The little shop was very sweet and the campfire a huge bonus.

We spent a weekend here at the beginning of September and absolutely loved it! So much freedom for the kids. The owners were fantastic and very accommodating. We will definitely return next summer.

Loved Forgewood. As we were looking for something a little more private, we booked 2 pitches in the woodlands (went with friends). Because quite a lot of bluebell covered pitches were protected, the owner said we could look around for a spot that might suit us. We found the second camping field, and had it all to ourselves!

It was ideal having this huge field where the boys could run around whilst we could sit back and relax whilst keeping an eye on them. A 5-minute walk through the bluebell covered woodlands brought us to the showers and toilets.

Wood was sold at £5 per bag, with the owner doing the rounds to sell and deliver a couple of times.

Highly recommended if you're looking for a basic site not far from SE London.

Fantastic site. Lovely fields (two, one hidden at the back) and wooded area which is great for kids to play in. The woods have sites and are all quite private and spread apart. You are allowed to have fires, which is lovely, and the campsite provides wood.

Highly recommended!
