"Almost on the doorstep of Delamere Forest and about 8…"
Almost on the doorstep of Delamere Forest and about 8 miles from Chester, this fairly new campsite is a good base to explore the local area which is why I've marked it 10/10 for things to do.

This site accepts tents, caravans and motorhomes. The site office doubles up as a shop which sells all the basics - tea, coffee, milk, bread, eggs, etc. All pitches have EHU, and although we don't have EHU you have to pay for it whether you use it or not. Our pitch, at the back of the site was on a slope, but not enough of a slope to cause us any problems. The pitches in the middle of the site are completely flat. There is a small park area for younger children and older children will enjoy playing on the rope swings and climbing trees in the wooded area at the back of the site, (which is also the dog walking area - no dog mess in sight and a pet waste bin at either end of the walk).

The washroom, toilets and (free) showers are amazing, toasty warm and always really clean with two free hairdryers. I did hear a complaint about queuing and cold showers of a morning, but we showered at teatime before going out for a meal and there was no queue and plenty of hot water.

There are two pubs nearby. Fishpool Inn is so close it's almost part of the site. I can't comment on the food as we only stopped in for a drink and to use the free wifi The Vale Royal Abbey Arms is further up the road, clean, modern and food was great with some good meal deals - Wednesday night is curry night - curry, rice and a pint of Stella or a soft drink forRead moreLess
