"We booked as a last minute bank holiday getaway. The…"
24-Jun-2011
We booked as a last minute bank holiday getaway. The park is split into two - an amusement park and a nature park.
We stayed in one of their gypsy caravans, all brand new this year. The caravans are located in the nature park which is a few minutes from the theme park entrance. There is a noddy land train which takes you from one park to the other and ample parking in both.
The caravan was outstanding, this is Glamping at its very best. Flat screen tv, fridge, sink and seating area, double bed with separate single bunks over the top. The most comfortable nights sleep ever. Each caravan has a little fenced area with picnic table. They are building some tree house accomadation this year too and we can't wait to stay in those also. There is a small concession stand in the info booth at the start of the nature park. The guide allowed us in after closing to hand feed the deer at dusk, it was wonderful.
There is a shower/toilet block that has to be seen to be believed - copper rain showers, carved soapstone font sinks, it's amazing! All linens are provided.
The nature park has feeding events, learning events on wolves, bears etc and a huge kids play area in the centre. It's calm, cool and peaceful.
In the morning you catch the Noddy train to the other park and have breakfast in their traditional german restaurant, included in the price. It's a traditional German/European breakfast but delish. There is a terrace outside to eat on.
The park itself is totally whacky. You think "what the heck..." when you arrive! The rides are themed such as spin in a china soup bowl, ride in a washing basket, race aound the rapid in a laundry barrel.....totally crazy. However there is a good mix of rides for young and old including the largest wooden roller coaster in the world. My dh's face on the ride said it all.
As with most German theme parks food is limited to wurst, chips, schnitzel etc but the prices are very reasonable and they really don't rip you off.
Crazy lovely park we totally fell in love with it and are looking forward to returning....you are in the middle of the wine region too so an extended stay would be nice.Read moreLessMumsnetter Binfullofmaggotsonthe45
