Its really two parks in one - Disneyland with its separate kingdoms as per normal and then Disneyland California with the bigger rides and more cinema 3D experiences.
It is a huge distance to cover in a day - it took us three days to do it properly and to see all of the light shows/parades in the evening.
We stayed in one of the many reasonably priced (non-Disney)hotels opposite the park entrance and then walked over every morning - it was close enough to have a nap in the afternoon before going back in the evening.
To get the most out of the park you really need to plan your day and use the fastpass system. We were there over a holiday but it was reasonable and never felt completely crowded unlike Florida or even Legoland.
You also need to book some of the nicer restaurants in advance - especially the one in the POTC ride.
The vibe is actually really good here - very different to Florida and to Eurodisney - it was rare to hear another British accent and it somehow feels more authentic and solid.Read moreLess
