An amazing experience that you will remember forever. The number of visitors daily are restricted so book early! The dolphin interaction doesn't last long but is a must do. The whole park was lovely and clean. Cant wait to go back!!Read moreLess
"Discovery Cove in Orlando is possibly the only place in…"
Discovery Cove in Orlando is possibly the only place in the U.S. that allows a pregnant woman to swim with dolphins.
At Discovery Cove, several of the dolphin trainers have been pregnant there, so the dolphins are trained not to "bump your bump"; or get too boisterous. The animals are very well looked-after and appear very happy and friendly.
Visiting Discovery Cove feels like you are a V.I.P. magically transported to a Caribbean island for the day. Guest numbers are limited to 1000 a day, so it's exclusive yet family-friendly. The food's good too, well geared up to fussy eaters!
Each group is given a tour of the facilities and an instructional video before the dolphin swim. You are escorted in small groups to meet your own dolphin in the stunning lagoon, surrounded by exotic plants and clean, golden sand. Our very own tropical beach, so far inland! My two year old was delighted to paddle, make sandcastles and watch while I met my dolphin.
When Akai the dolphin looked into my eyes I felt the baby move inside me, as if baby and dolphin were connecting with each other. The experience was incredibly peaceful and spiritual. I was left with a feeling of wellbeing and serenity that lasted several days.
In addition to the dolphin encounter, Discovery Cove is a wildlife paradise where you can swim with rays, snorkel around the coral reef, or take a leisurely swim in the warm tropical river through to the aviary. Here, the tame exotic birds will come and sit on your shoulder.
It's not cheap but I would go back there in a heartbeat rather than Disneyworld anyday. I'm intrigued by the Twilight Discovery Swim. Imagine swimming with dolphins around a beautifully lit tropical lagoon, then sipping cocktails at the bar. Maybe next year...;? I can but dream!
