"Lovely, allergy friendly, cottage for children, great location!…"
26-Aug-2012
This cottage is truly luxury for adults and small children. Christine and Peter have an eye for detail, and have thought of all sorts of things that are helpful for a family.
We were greeted with a welcome hamper filled with delicious home baked goods and fresh eggs.
There is a highchair and child-friendly cutlery and plates.
The kitchen is well stocked with all you might need, including a hand blender and slow cooker!
Beautiful enclosed garden in the back, with flowers and lots of opportunities for bird watching. The bedroom was big enough for our two children, age 6 and 4 on twin beds (one had railings on) with a cot for our 2 year old. Our newborn was in our bedroom. There is ample storage in the kitchen to put away all the food, and plenty of drawers and wardrobe space in the bedroom. There is also a big utility room with brand new washer and dryer, which was so helpful for our washing and muddy things.
Our daughter has allergies, so we needed a place that is NOT pet-friendly. Leather sofas and hypoallergenic bedding all made a big difference. Christine let the kids help feed the chickens one day, which was fun for them, and we walked in the Bowmont forest another day-- just a short hike up the road, with a car park.
Kelso town is only 4 miles away (nice new Sainsbury's) , and we enjoyed being close to loads of places to hike, while still feeling "away from it all".
Great day out in Jedburgh, as well as Cheviot hills close by.
The owners are so kind, and truly love children. Everything was so clean, and felt new -- cottage was renovated within the last 2 years. see website for photos--
