"Fantastic baby & toddler friendly cottage…"
We've had a fantastic time at Tregill Farm, in the cute little village that is Menheniot in Cornwall. DS who is 2.5 years old, absolutely loved the spacious garden, with a mound of grass and a duel slide, which was enclosed so very safe to let him have a wander. There was also a BBQ area and a bench. The cottage itself was very clean and full equipped to the utmost detail - including a set of plastic cutlery, plates and bowls for LOs. There was a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, electric hob and oven. There was also a gas fire (with a fireguard) and logs provided, however we didn't use this as it wasn't cold enough to warrant a fire! The cottage was very safe for DS, with plastic plugs over all electric sockets, a stair gate in place and an anti-slip mat for the bath. And upon my request, they provided a travel cot and a high-chair. A night-light was also available, but we didn't need it. I was also very pleased to find out there was free wifi!

The welcome booklet that was provided was very helpful - it contained info on all activities and beaches in the local area, the best things to do for a rainy day (we had lots of those!) and local family friendly restaurants. Our cottage was a short 20 minute drive from Looe, which had a lovely beach and harbour, you could even go crab fishing. We were also near Lostwithiel, which is a quaint little village with lots of antique shops and Restormel Castle (English Heritage) nearby. We had a bit of an adventure at Golitha Falls (20 minutes drive), where we put on our wellies and made our way through the woods to see the beautiful stream and waterfall. On one of our rainy days, we went into Plymouth (35 minutes drive) to visit the National Marine Aquarium, which is absolutely great for kids.

Our trip was for 7 nights, which to be honest, wasn't long enough to fully relax. I'd recommend going for at least 10 nights, if you're travelling far (we wasted two days driving to and from London!). Our trip was arranged by Cottages4you (www.cottages4you.co.uk), who have a great collection of the best Baby & Toddler Friendly cottages in the UK. They also provide the best of British beach breaks - I'd definitely add this one to the list!

UPDATE: Just to add to this, DS left his Mr Men book under the cot and we didn't even realise until it turned up through the post. Very good service!Read moreLess
